Anyone else looking forward to this release?
I loved the original game's.Played them to death.
This gameplay demo looks like its more of the fast paced frantic action I loved on the PS2 before it went to the console heaven

at the moment it's slated for a march release

Definitely looking forward to this one. My thumb's literally bled over the first three and 'On Tour' got a few spins as well. Was initially a bit skeptical about this release when I saw the preliminary shots but this demo has me excited again!

I'm not one for hyperbole, but anyone who doesn't think this will be the best game ever is worse than Hitler.

    Can't fecking wait.

Yeah, that caught me by surprise too. Really don't think it should be in a game like this. Be interesting to see how it's implemented.

Gameplay looks fantastic though. The gliding looks and seems to work a lot better than I thought it would

Looks alot like SSX Tricky, which was one o f my favourite PS2 games. Didn't even know this was coming out, delighted it is, but as 2smiggy said there should be no rewind feature.

rewind meh i wont use it just like forza, i wonder if there will be online racing? i never did that in an ssx before

I think you will find that the rewind feature that I mentioned I did not like, does in fact take away from the challenge.

Was it this that when it was first announced it, they said it was going to be grittier, darker and more realistic? If so, I'm glad they realised they were talking rubbish!

Yeah, I think they changed their game-plan pretty sharpish when they seen the reaction the original trailer got.

I've played a preview of it, it's GREAT fun and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Looks wise, it's a little more "grown up" than previous offerings as you'll see from the clip above, but it's still absolutely 100% SSX in terms of game play with wild jumps that last for hundreds of feet and the "tricky" meter for pulling off the super special combos.

Some interesting new additions - hazard courses where in one instance you're hurtling down the mountain avoiding an avalanche coming behind you (it flips the screen for this mode which took some getting used to) and racing in the dark with only the light on your head providing clarity of the map in front of you (there was a clip of that in the video above).

I know we're gonna have more about it closer to launch as a part of our arrangement eith EA, so I'll be back whenever I have more news. I can hand on heart say that if you enjoyed the previous SSX games, you'll definitely want to give this one a look.

Lord, I can remember playing SSX Tricky so much :)

I must have played the first course Garibaldi literally hundreds upon hundreds of times. (less than a thousand times though :D) The other maps were great too, the city map where your going downhill and eventually you come to 6 ramps in a row that spring you up into the air.

Or the last map where you could stay in the air the whole time if you wanted too.

I'd half forgetton about some of those maps. The fond memories are coming flooding back here. This new SSX is really gonna have to be something special to beat that classic.

I've said for years that if they put tricky in a slightly shorter box and did nothing else, I'd buy it again.

One of the most fun games I've ever played. Very much looking forward to this one. I'm very glad that the dropped all that dark, gritty nonsense in favour of flashing lights and shiny colours, it's important to stay true to its roots.

It's a modern SSX Tricky! Definitely a launch title for me!

Boom 49 minutes with the Giant Bomb quick look

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,499 ✭✭✭Sabre0001

It's going to be excellent. If you use the Rewind, the other racers carry on and you lose points as well - only you enter a rewind state.

Gameplay is really slick and fluid - well put together game. Plenty of variety on and offline.

    🤪

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,128 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

Just gotten through half that quicklook and the guy playing it is freaky good at the game, i cannot wait for this so i can try some of the crazy stuff hes pulling off.
Also really looking forward to the soundtrack stuff and mixing my own ones with the in game editor
