Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hey there, off to new york for two weeks in march, have been there probably 5 or 6 times before, so have done all the touristy stuff around the city.

because we are going for so long, the plan is to travel around, day trips etc outside of new york, no where too far, we are willing to stay the night etc if its a good spot, we would prefer not to take flights, so trains, cars etc will be grand. (we have access to cars when we are there and are staying with friends so no problem travelling around)

so, question is, where should we go? what is worth seeing? all not too far from new york???

I went on an organised day trip to Philadelphia and Amish country: http://www.viator.com/tours/New-York-City/Philadelphia-and-Amish-Country-Day-Trip-from-New-York/d687-3857PHI
It think it was about 2 hours to Philadelphia and another hour after that to Amish country. I thought it was interesting and something a bit different :)

That website do other day trips too if you’re looking for ideas! I was thinking about going to Washington DC too. I didn’t realise Niagara was so close… would consider that if I’m there again!

Washington DC is an amazing city to be a tourist in, so many amazing museums, easy to get around and if the weather is nice it's lovely to just walk along the mall and take in the sights.

The various Smithsonian museums are all free and very interesting but one of the few pay in museums is the Newseum which I found to be superb.

I think there's a bus service called BOLT which does very cheap $10 fares from NYC to DC. There are a few other cheap bus services running between the two cities.
