To be brutally honest, I don't think there are any good places for waxing in Sligo. I've tried a few of the well known salons and was never impressed. I actually go to Dublin for it, sad I know.

And if you are looking for specialised waxing - i.e. bikini, Brazilian etc. stay well away from any of the Sligo salons because they all use strip wax which is nothing short of barbaric  Most decent places in Dublin will use strip less wax which is more effective and miles less painful, I would love to see something like this in Sligo.

Just looking for a leg wax few places I've tried have been crap. Thinking of going to Oona Doherty heard good things about her salon but its quite expensive haven't heard anything about her waxing though

Peaches and creme, had waxing done there several times. On bikini areas they didn't use strips they used hot wax as far as I remember.

That is if there still open!

Life Hair and Beauty on Pearce Road. Definately the best place i have ever been to get waxed. The prices are good too.

Does it have to be "in" town? Coz I go to a girl in Carraroe with a lovely wee salon in her house and she is fantastic. She uses the hot wax, not the strips ad is brilliant at what she does.

If you want her number, PM me :D

I ended up going to Oona Doherty pretty happy with the results and her prices have dropped so was only €25 for full leg which is good. There is a few patches of hair left but I'm 38 weeks pregnant so it was kind of difficult for her to wax.

    Aww congrats :D

The girl I mentioned in Carraroe does mobile beauty too, so if you're looking for waxing etc when babba arrives and you're finding it difficult to get out of the house she can come to you!

I go to a place just outside town. It takes four guys about 5 mins to complete and they give you a buff and chami dry before waxing. Their attention to detail is excellent. I sometimes get them to clean out my interior too...

I go to Feenails & Beauty in Carney, Co Sligo <Snip> der 10mins north of sligo but as I live in Grange its very convenient. They are very througher and do mobile work too. €15 for half leg -they use rollered wax for legs and peel off wax for upper lips and bikini area.Hope it helps

Oona Doherty has started using Lycon wax for all the bikini waxing. Same wax they use in Brazilia/Urban Wax in Dublin. Have never been waxed in Oona's but have been in Brazilia, and can vouch that the wax itself is brilliant.

thanks for the offer but i'd feel really awkward going to someone's house for something as small as that - unless they work in a salon in the town?

Fully understandable, I would feel exactly the same. I will point out however that the salon she operates from is at the side of her home. While one would have to go to her front door, you don't actually pass through the living quarters (that sounds like she lives in a castle, ha!). Her treatment room is exactly like any other salon in town (well I think it's nicer, but I'm totally biased :pac:), she treats her clients in an entirely professional manner- even when my sister and I were over for make-up recently, she was in her uniform even though I slagged her that she could be in her pyjamas for all we cared!

Bernies salon definitely the best! Im student in sligo and have gone to this salon the past 4 years. Ive tried a good few other salons in town and have to say that it is defo the best value for money. Waxes always last a good 4 weeks for me and the staff are always so friendly, chatty and welcoming.

This thread has been dormant for 5 months and your first post on boards.ie is to promote Bernies?
