We go into this game knowing that a win will bring us level on points with Man United. All along, we as Spurs fans have been bigging up this game, and opposition fans have been dreading it. Not only can we draw level with Utd but we can move 8 points clear of Chelsea, which is a big lead.

The 1st team will have had a full week off, and more time off than Everton, though I still think this is going to be tough game. Everton usually give us a good game at home. Neville and Coleman have done well over the last few seasons in nullifying Bale, though hopefully this time around they'll have an in-form and fit Lennon to contend with as well. Landon Donovan has come back for another stint, and he will certainly give them something else going forward.

Hopefully Parker will be fit. Gallas and Sandro are definitely out, but hopefully we'll have a full squad outside that.

It's an unusual occasion as fans from every team in the top 7 (except us of course) will be hoping Everton nick some points from us, especially Utd fans! Here's hoping we don't let them!

Dailymail claiming King could be out for eight weeks after "doing his hamstring" with a light jog on friday. :(

If it's true I'd say it's likely we will go into the market for another CB Samba or maybe up our offer for Cahill(although his wages would never be met)

"If" king is out and I pray that he isn't Samba is a must buy. This is actually a bigger game then the Chelsea game a couple of weeks ago because for all the world it is taking points off everyone. To be 8 clear of 5th is going to be huge coming into a VERY hard run of games after City.

    Must win. Simple as that.

If it's true, i'd imagine king could be finished at spurs ! How could we continue to pay a guy such money when he plays so little, despite his hero status.

pay as you play for him. 20k every match and bonus if he plays a few in a row.

then let him coach the defense as well.

I agree that we need to stop hoping King will be fit, and get a replacement, either as 1st choice with Dawson/Kaboul, or backup to Dawson and Kaboul. He's too injury prone. Keep him as a backup option, and get him coaching the defense on positioning skills (which he is fantastic at).

As for Everton, it'll be a tough game. Everyone will be looking at us to drop points, and i'm not too confident. If Parker is fit, 2-1 to us. If not, 1-1.

Friedel, Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto, Parker, Modric, Lennon, Bale, Defoe, Adebayor

Subs: Livermore, Van der Vaart, Bassong, Cudicini, Rose, Kranjcar, Pienaar, Pavlyuchenko

I'd go with that, except I'd have VDV starting instead of Defoe, and definitely not both of them. Defoe was absolutely rubbish against WBA and I know he scored the winning goal but if he hadn't he would have had about a 2/10. Having said that, Ade was rubbish as well. Let's hope the week off has done them both good and they're pumped for this one.

    Big Brad
    Walker----Kabul--Dawson--BAE
    Lennon---Parker--Modric---Bale
    VDV

    Adebayor

Great to see Dawson back, perfect timing

I dunno lads, with Ade not been available for the game against City in a couple of weeks time I'd be inclined to give Defoe a run in the team until then. He has scored when he played this season.

    It's BERBA's echo :pac:

I'm not so sure. I see what you're saying, but I just don't think that Defoe offers as much as VDV. Obviously he's scoring, but as I mentioned earlier he was crap against WBA and but for the goal would have had a complete shocker. I know he's a striker and his main objective is to score goals, but if you have someone like VDV who can also score goals and increase the teams creativity it's a no brainer.

Don't get me wrong, VDV can be so frustrating at times too, like when he drifts back inside our own half to collect a pass leaving Ade up front on his own. I just think that if he starts we have a better chance of winning.

The main thing is that we need to approach each game one at a time. The team most likely to win against the next team we play (i.e. the strongest team) needs to start every match, if possible. All eyes should be on getting 3 points, not worrying whether Defoe & VDV will get gametime together for the City game. Once the 3 points have been secured (like if we're hammering Everton by 3 or 4 goals on Wednesday!!), thoughts can change to such things.

Personally, I think I'd take the risk and rest Modric again.

He said in an interview recently that he has never been so tired as he feels at the moment.

I'd play VDV in the center alongside Parker (or behind the front two) and play Ade & Defoe upfront together.

That's not good to hear. It would maybe explain his lacklustre performance against WBA too. Hopefully the week off will have done him good, and that Harry is aware that he is tired so that he can be substituted in the 2nd half, depending on how things are going.

Defoe has been in red hot form before and after injury, he needs game time so i'd be inclined to play him

    "JD plays he scores".:D

There is no way Harry will start JD if VdV and Lennon are fit. He would not have started him on Saturday if he had him penned in for the Everton game IMO.

Rumour has it ledleys fit for Wednesday mind games Harry?

King Gallas Sandro all defo out Parker very very doubtful. :(

My only worry from that quartet is Parker. If he doesn't make it who will play in the centre with Modric? And considering that Everton will most likely play with 5 in the middle, will we be over-run? Krancjar doesn't have the mobility, Pienaar isn't a CM, and I don't rate Livermore highly enough to compete well at this level.

    Bugger anyway.

    agree, it's a big concern

maybe Livermore could be good enough to get us through

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,910 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

If he has to play Livermore then he just needs to keep things simple, no Hollywood passes or careless tackles. He’s a little naïve at times, but I don’t think he’s the worst player in the world.

What did we ever do without Parker? Everton have major doubts over key players too, there a sticky team and don’t give up without a fight.

It’ll be a dogged game, I’ll go for a narrow win as we've not beaten them in a while. And no more injuries please!

Game will be live on tv at Evergreen Bar, Turners Cross, Cork.

If King was fit I'd be playing him in CM along side modric in lieu of Parker and Sandro missing.

This is the 1st real test our midfield has had since the opening 2 games of the season and we know what happened there.

I'd imagine so. Live on lots of foreign tv channels so should be lots of streams available.

Midfielder Seamus Coleman is Everton’s latest injury doubt ahead of the Barclays Premier League trip to Tottenham tomorrow.

The Republic of Ireland player limped out of the FA Cup victory over Tamworth to join the growing ranks of injured players.

Phil Jagielka (knee), Leon Osman (foot), Jack Rodwell (hamstring), Tony Hibbert (groin), Tim Cahill (groin) and Ross Barkley (knee) were absent on Saturday and all six are likely to be missing again.

Provisional squad: Howard, Neville, Heitinga, Distin, Baines, Bilyaletdinov, Fellaini, Drenthe, Donovan, Saha, Gueye, Hahnemann, Duffy, McFadden, McAleny, Vellios, Stracqualursi
