I like a lot of what Kimmage has written but I'm afraid he has come out of this looking like a plum. I doubt there is anymore details to come out of this, it just reveals a shallow move.

If anyone follows him on twitter you will have seen the fawning towards the Indo in recent months, words to the effect that they have given him a lifeline and he is deeply indebted to them. That may be, but to think he has some sort of exclusivity over who O Driscoll gives interviews to is extremely naive.

Have to say I've thought some of what Kimmage has written has been fantastic but also some not so good.

There was a fairly cheap innuendo from one of the other Indo writers today (http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analysis/bod-cant-kick-kimmage-ghost-into-touch-29967707.html) bizarrely from one who usually gives out about supposed nepotism in the political ranks himself.

Kimmage explained himself well, if anybody knows anything about the man & his work, it is that he's totally committed to the task at hand.
He asked for an interview, BOD probably getting paid more for an interview elsewhere says no, they part ways, there's probably a little more to it than that. But we won't be getting any more info I'd say

Well that's not exactly what happened. Bod didn't refuse kimmages interview, he refused kimmages request not to give an interview to the Times and only give one to the indo.

I'd be very surprised if BOD was getting paid for interviews

I'd be surprised if he wasn't to be truthful

They should probably drop the autobiography pretense now. It is a biography plain and simple.

I imagine giving interviews is part of his contract.

I would imagine the majority of autobiographies are ghost-written.

From the piece Kimmage wrote the day after the announced split, it's Kimmage that comes out looking like a prat. Asking someone not to give an interview to a rival and that any exclusives should ONLY be given to the Indo because they were so good to Kimmage giving him time off not because there is a contract saying so.

I'll be reading the book one way or the other.

Indeed, but we generally don't hear about it like we have in this case.

No we don't. But then most ghost writers realise the subject of the book is the main star and don't act like petulant children.

Either way it is a biography with input from the subject.

Kimmage should really have known BOD wouldn't do an interview with the Indo
