Just on another thing mentioned on this thread. Its impossible to do other than piss in the streets/alleys as there no public toilets in Galway anymore.

Dublin City Council have now started to install temporary urinals (years after other cities) at weekends/busy nights as they also shut down all the public toilets in the 90s.

Worst excuse ever especially as there any number of fast food places or just the pubs you are drinking in to take a piss in. Christ.

I think you will find there are no doormen on pub toilet doors asking why your drink isnt in your hand or do you have a receipt. You are a great man for the excuses anyway, i'll give you that.

I think you'll find there are doormen at the pub doors though, and if it's any time after half 1 you'd be lucky if they let you in (and they definitely won't if you say you just need a slash). Besides: find a pub, shuffle through the throngs of people inside to find the jacks, maybe wait inside for a urinal/cubicle (all this while bursting for a piss), relieve yourself, navigate your way back vs piss down some alley when you know well it's going to be lashing rain tomorrow anyway

Well if thats the level of person im trying to communicate with then go ahead and pee where you want, i just hope you are caught sometime and dealt with appropriately. I've often gone into various pubs at 1 or later and not been questioned as to why im going in.

My view is that there's bad eggs in all walks of life, students are no exception.

There seems to be a lot of begrudgery about students out enjoying themselves. All young people, be they in college or not enjoy going out and socialising and so they should. People will be working, raising kids and burdened with many responsiilities for long enough. Why not go out and enjoy life whille youre more or less responsibility free and full of energy?

Also a lot of students work the weekends while the rest of us are out on the town. Their night out is during the week. Its not so shocking really.

I worked part time through college as did most of my friends but college is also about having fun and I dont believe students should work full time if they're lucky enough to be able to survive on part time / get help from their parents. A balance between work, college work and having a life would be good.

I'm sure not all students are dickheads but if anybody is like me and has lived in the city for a long time you'd form your own opinion. The only problems I have ever had with noisey neighbours was with students. Even during one summer it was a group of students. I've had neighbours who were professionals that obviously had people crashing at theirs on the weekend and have a bit of music playing but they seem to have had sense. They don't come home at 4 in the morning and put the music back on blaring, there might be a bit of talking outside as they are getting in the door but don't seem to get the same constant yelling through the walls or roof. There was never destruction of my property!

I've seen some pretty f'd up things in town on a Saturday night, usually violence. Where as during Student nights there's violence and senseless sh!t like climbing on top of parked cars, knocking off wing mirrors, setting bins on fire and sh!tting against a wall! Maybe it's being narrow minded but I'll stick to my mindset and avoid student nights out and student friendly estates

Chug Chug Chug...., I miss college so much. Didn't effect my grades at all and I've a good career on the up and up. Still blooding studying now for professional qualifications. And every time I pass exams, I go out and let off steam.

If I could go back again; graduated 5 years ago; I would drank twice as hard as I did the first time. Student days are the most care free days of your life, go for it!

My college days were funded by Part Time work, and yes, my parents did give me a dig out when it came to Reg Fees (was only €670 back then) and some books.

If you could drink twice as hard without dying of liver failure within 6 months you must have been a clean living student!

I do find the students in Galway a bit dickish though in comparison to what I remember from my undergrad in Dublin though I suppose its probably just because of the higher numbers mean there's student dominated estates. TBH I'm biased here as now back in college but I find the non student 17-20 year olds as bad or worse

Nobody has a problem with students on the beer but when it comes to bad behaviour people expect better from 3 rd level students who are to be the future of the country

If it was scumbag people would react more but the ah shur he/she is a student is a great excuse

Shur look at the amount of idiots that have come out of free 3 rd level the last 15 years
