I was speaking to some of our brightest young minds who are at college, over a few drinks. They seem to be in a delusion that Ireland will sunddenly boom again in 4 or 5 years time! I am resigned to the fact that that can't/won't happen in my lifetime. Are people oblivious to the fact that we need a "regime" change in this country. Our so-called democracy is a failure full of corruption and our youth seem oblivious to this fact. Few people seem to realise there futures are being stolen! They are being suppressed through unemployment, mounting taxes and healthcare that is rapidly diminishing among other services. It is saddening that people STILL don't seem to want to change things or know what they should do. I know our minds have been trained from a young age to accept certain things as "good" or normal as the right actions and government in a civilized society. Religion a set of human rules has also brainwashed our minds and it is a restriction on people's freedom - freedom of thought, morals and duty as a HUMAN. I think many have forgotten that we are supposed to be humans, we have dominion over all other life so it is our responsibility to see that everything works in they way that it should. We have occupy but such a thing is very small scale, we need a mass of people, daily protest or non-participation. The last point because it is the peoples participation that maintains the scam called capitalism and democracy.

we need a mass of people, daily protest or non-participation

So many of these threads on boards

The OP calls for marches and protests but always expects somebody else to organize them.

How about you make a start OP if you feel strongly about it?

    Also, who says "at uni"?

The success of Mrs Brown's Boys really says more about the general ignorance of our populace than any number of threads on boards that call for mass demonstrations ever could.

We don't have enough of these threads!!! I don't know enough people, we need a celebrity to organise the people. There are more protests nationwide against cuts and massive gov tax on petrol, but we need more change than ending of increased tax!

You have to be optimistic in college. Its the only way you get through. Otherwise what's the point.

No one can know for sure what's going to happen so maybe its better to be optimistic.

4-5 years?? I highly doubt it. We might see things starting to change in 10 years.

make a great big poster, with a time and date for the protest, and at the bottom, write 'free hat'.

    guaranteed a big turn out!

Ignorance is annoying, but what really gets me annoyed is people who will form opinions on things but never actually go so far as to become informed on what they are talking about.

    The short version!

Many youth don't know YET what its like day to day, to live within a culture of corruption and cronyism that has been existent for decades (and sadly still continuing)!
They will in time if they stick around Ireland long enough!

Its nice that they can be that optimistic, but present reality and past history is indicative where things will continue and go.

You are right - we do need drastic, COMPLETE clean slate, empty the Dail of the current political parties in change.
They have had so long and they are going nowhere slowly - too slowly, when in fact they should be trying for once in Irelands history, to get trying to get somewhere faster.
Its the same tired, lining the pockets of themselves and their mates crap.

Again, its nice that our brightest young minds can be that optimistic - but till they ACTUALLY participate in helping to bring about the UNDERLYING change that needs to be done for the later 'sudden boom' they wish for to happen, they will have to see that stage one is reached before any other progressive stages there after!

That means they will have to get up from their comfy places and do more in civic responsibility.

well to a person in college 5 years from now might seem like a really long time whereas 5 years might not seem that long to people working. we are talking at least 10 years. but really we are talking about when the rest of europe and the US get back on their feet and start buying products.

on a slightly positive note Germany is doing fantastically at the moment I'm sure we are all really happy for them!!!

Sounds like the OP joined the Shinners' Society at Uni and now wants to dispense with capitalism and democracy.

A few paragraph breaks wouldn't go amiss, either.

Yeah hate to break this one to you but..`occupy` is very much con-trolled opposition and a limited hang out scene. Some very good and sincere persons involved no doubt but infiltrated and totally spied on.

As for getting out of this economic hole again yeah good luck with that one, the present clowns and puppets in charge, can at best metaphorically only move the chairs around on the Titanic.Basically you want a possibilty of a real future move East.
