Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone else watching this last night?

I couldn't help thinking that the 2 expert analysts would have been better off without that Garda Sargent's 2 cents.. He was part of the original investigation back when she was killed.

When they were 'brainstorming' possible motives and scenarios all he kept doing was throwing cold water on everything.. he was only short of saying "ah sure Jaysus leave it be would yis"

Then when asked what would happen if somebody came forward with information now at this stage.. his reply was "Well, they would be treated very seriously for withholding information"

Yeah, come forward so we can throw the book at ya!!!!

I just found it a bit bizarre.. If I was TV3 or the girls family.. I would have asked for it to be edited or re-recorded before it went out..

    Rant/

I caught bits of it last night. I was wondering if the garda could look anymore disinterested in what they were saying.

My theory was, maybe he or indeed the rest of the investigating team felt they were trying to undermind the original investigation.. but still and all, a fresh look at the evidence has to be a good thing and should be welcomed by all involved.. even if it is just for a TV show, it's still new publicity.

It was pretty interesting, difficult to draw my own conclusions though. I would recommend others give it a watch.

I agree, it was interesting.. I never really heard the story properly as it happened when I was still a schoolgirl.. was a real eye opener..

Hopefully it will bring something new to light..

the programme is called Crime in Mind, it was shown for the first time this time last year on tv 3. hopefully they will find her killer. maybe the gardai know who he/she is but don't have enough evidence to convict. the programme also featured the case of philip cairns, jo jo dullard, annie mc carrick

I remember this as a kid as the suspect at the time was dropped on my road in a taxi. I remember the Gardai calling to all the houses on the road asking if people had seen anything.

It didn't seem like a big thing at the time as, to me, 17 was reasonably old but looking back on it now, it really was a terrible crime

it certainly was. very rare that this type of crime is committed, especially on a girl her age.

    Such a sad story,

What I think is the creepiest is the way that her grave and tombstone was smashed up.. do u think that this is because of general thugs in the area or is it definitely something to do with Raonaid?

Same kinda creepiness with Fiona Synott , who in Gods name would want to steal a plaque dedicated to her. Surely whoever is responsible has to know something that Gardai havent picked up on yet !

    Poor families :(

    Thanks.
I didn't know her too well but I'm still friends with some people who did, they might be interested in this.
