    anyone here ever done this,
    the website pretty much recomends a mountain bike or a cyclocross because of the off road sections, but the thought of doing the all that road on a mountain bike is putting me off what i would otherwise be fairly keen on...otherwise if you did it, how did you find it..

    Hi,
    I did this event last year and loved it!!! Well organsied event over 2 days and spectacular scenary!!

    I used a cyclocross bike with Continental Gator Skin tyres, i cycled all the offroad bit and no punctures. Majority is on tarred road or canal towpath type surface so even if you use a racer bike with good tyres you should be ok, even on the off road bit. Some off road bits were so muddy even people on mountain bikes had to walk.

    I really enjoyed the experience and would definately recommend it!! :D

    thanks for the info, im sure there will be other questions ..lot of training to do between now and then first
