GOG is turning down games due to politics so says a developer with some connections:

Not a good look if the rumors are true about CDPR being in financial trouble, enough to have had to dropped their well-liked fair-price policy. https://youtu.be/v-ynj_vI4p8?t=690

The Escapist aplogises to youtuber for opinion piece calling him anti-gay:

IGN game impressions article contains racist statements:

Rape Day won't be released on steam:
    https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1808664240304050758

This crap game breaks literally none of the Steam rules and there's already games with similar content still up. This got targeted thanks to the gaming press still wanting to flex their influence over what gets released and what doesn't. I assume hundreds of thousands of more people who would have never even known about this game do now and thus the game will probably make more sales on other platforms due this free publicity.

Appabend did a good video about this: https://youtu.be/VQ3KnCZcn-Y

"Instagram is now the number one platform for child abusers":

Why is this relevant? Well THQN still have an official page there ( https://www.instagram.com/THQNordic/ ) despite their apology for daring to use 8chan as a QnA platform http://www.thqnordic-investors.com/en/news/?releaseId=3225942

Electronic Arts won’t hold an E3 conference this year. The publisher said in a press release today that it will again hold EA Play in Los Angeles during the weekend before E3, but that the focus of the event will be livestreams and hands-on for players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Robert ninja

^ Better off just doing their own little events. Much much cheaper and will always reach those who care about it (paying customers). I don't think I know anyone who watches E3 for anything other than to just laugh at it now.

I hope Bethesda don't either. Their last few felt pointless & only the year when Fallout 4 was shown did it feel justified.

I'm sorry but everyone could pull out of E3 and Godd Howard would still show up with a killer jacket and a killer smile.

Interesting though, no Sony and no EA this year. I love the buzz of E3 and tuning in to see who does the least bad job at presenting. Can fully understand companies holding their own cheaper, more focused events.

E3 is of no real use to companies of their size anymore though, they don't need to piggyback on it to publicise their wares in the way they needed to years ago. It probably costs the same to put on their own even with 100% control of the message and no need to be "compared" to any of the others or having to share what we used to call "column inches" or attention. All they need is a tricaster and a production team and a studio and away they go :)

I think Nintendo led the charge there with their Nintendo directs which have been far more successful at reaching the consumer than E3 has been and far cheaper to put on.

They're not the greatest at telling people they're having a direct.

I've seen a few "wait there was a direct" post each time.

While generating hype and gauging consumer response directly was obviously a beneficial side effect, E3 was never about reaching them though, it was about their relationship with their partners, be they development, publishing, distribution or indirectly, financial. Your point most certainly holds true for these groups though as seen after each progressive Direct over the last 12 months.

Hell, cheapness aside, I'm just glad neither we nor they have to put up with as much live cringe this year in between the announcements. :p

Did EA not officially show at last years conference either? They held their own thing off site, but also had a few items lumped in with Microsoft?

Its going to be a strange year for E3.

EA have been doing that for a while now.

A bunch of dudes down in New Zealand are trying their hand at a modern SWAT game. Not an easy ask but should be interesting to see how it turns out.

Yeah Japan has a serious dark culture with that anime stuff, especially when I was around Akihabara

One thing I immediately took away from the trailer, is they need to work on the voice acting. When they breached, a cop was heard saying 'Police, hands up', but it was like he was just at his desk. I've been in Garda raids, you shout that stuff, and repeat it.

These coop games are not really for me, so be interesting to see if there's a SP mode that's actually good.

I have a lot of love for the SWAT series, it's crying out for a VR version, but lets be honest it will just be all coop because that's the easiest route to profit these days

Why were you shouting 'Police, hands up!' repeatedly at the guards?

You'll like SWAT 4 then. You constantly shout like that and it can be enjoyed single or multiplayer just fine.

Even my colleagues had a hard time remembering which side I was on, in fairness I never looked like one! Thankfully.

Halo: MCC is confirmed as coming to PC. They'll release the games as they finish them, so they'll start with Reach, and release the rest later. It'll be on Steam too.

Also, Reach is coming to Halo: MCC

I've dropped almost every google product (and am peeling off the last ones), I'll likely be skipping whatever their next one is, especially if it uses as much ram and keylogs as much as Chrome.

Apparently some EA affiliate was a child groomer:

Microsoft just showed off a sneak peek at their xCloud service on their Inside Xbox show, Forza Horizon 4 running on a mobile. Looked great, but also looked a little laggy. Of course, the presenter playing it had clearly never played a game before, so I'm not sure if it was lag or just really bad playing.

Is that a real photo or a mock up? If so I can't believe they put the left thumbstick in the wrong position.
