    I activated a points card already but my live sub has ended can I use my points to activate xbox live

    I take it you mean xbox gold subscription?

    You need to buy this, either manually on your xbox or via http://www.xbox.com or by buying a card in a shop that has a code that you can redeem.
    Points can only be used for marketplace items.
