Kitchen Tap fittings rant (sorry)

I've just refitted the mono bloc mixer tap on the kitchen sink, and I have to ask:

What demon benighted twisted idiot genius designed that system?

A circular tap fitted to a circular hole in thin sheet metal held together with one stud fastening?

    What the hell?

How is that going to seal?

How is that going to resist the leverage that taps are subject to?

How do you stop it rotting?

I've done what I can, a large tee shaped piece of galv steel underneath to spread the load, a large rubber seal between the block and the sink, but unless I strap the pipe tails to the back of the unit I can't see how the tap will ever feel solid!

And that little nut that can't be reached unless you have a foot long box spanner? Did the "engineer" that designed that EVER try to fit one of these?

A bad design, in my opinion!

Sorry, just getting it all of my chest.
