UPC self install and equipment questions

I'm thinking of getting the cheapest line from UPC that doesn't come with a "wireless modem", and do the installation myself.

I tried asking their customer service at what was expected by me doing the installation myself. Would it involve more than just let's say receiving a few boxes in the post and connecting them with the correct cables?

Also, it appears the "wireless modem" is an option. Does that mean that if I don't opt to get it, I can just use my Linksys router, and they will provide a standard modem with coaxial and RJ45 connectors?

    Thanks.
