Haven't done Ferns but have done Wexford and Enniscorthy. Enniscorthy probably tougher but a nicer route IMO. On the right day Wexford is a fast course though, all the hills in the first 6k when you're fresh and then gradually downhill from there, plus the prevailing wind is a tailwind from 13k to home, so fast if the wind plays ball, unlike last year.

Can never remember wind playing ball for that race

2013 there was a lovely tailwind from about the 13k marker all the way back into town, last year was a nasty headwind the whole way.

There is a 5k run/walk this Saturday in Carrigbyrne for a good cause if anyone is interested. Halfway between Wexford and New Ross on N25.

Whats the parkrun like in Johnstown Castle? Home this weekend with the car, so might run this.

    Thanks

It's great, highly recommend it. Location is stunning, the surface is a mixture of tarmac and some pebbled sections. There'd be about 200 at each one, a broad mix of abilities. The start is a major bottleneck, so if you're aiming for a fast time, be sure to start near the front.

    Is it hilly at all?

Not really, there's a slight drag for about 50m each lap (there's 3 laps) but nothing more than that.

Well did it but DNF after first lap. Body still struggling from the cold earlier. Was meant to be a loosening run anyhow. Well run though.

This is a great race. Ran it last year, very well organised, great value, great atmosphere. Good excuse to escape for an hour and burn off the Easter excesses!

I've just entered this one. Looking forward to it! Now the question is, will I use it as a reason not to stuff my face with chocolate, or as an excuse to stuff my face with chocolate?

Don't see anything in Wex but there is a 5k in Carlow info@popupraces.ie. Keep an eye on the calendar on lindienaughton.com also, good up to date list of races all over the country.

There is a Park Run in Johnstown Castle on Saturday, but presume you want something a bit more competitive.

No offense or disrepect to Park Runs.

    Rosslare 10k

A quick note that entry to the Rosslare 10k closes midnight Saturday 4 4 2015

    http://www.active.com/wexford-cowexford/running/races/rosslare-10k-2015?int=

Entry on line is €13.00 with super technical top.

Entry on the day is €15.00 and the organiser tells me that t shirts may be scarce for on the day entries.

Does anyone know where we pick up numbers for the Roslare 10k on Monday morning? I looked and couldn't find it on the website, no doubt that was me being blind!

Watersports Centre in the Middle of the village - you'll see plenty of activity

Good to have a list that is kept up to date. Haven't had the time to keep the one here maintained. A lot of races have popped up in Wexford since we first starting discussing on the first 'Running in Wexford' thread. The Mick Murphy and the Enniscorthy 10k must be the longest lasting at this stage. A few have come and gone and a few good new ones have arrived. Chip timing and on-line entry makes things a lot easier but it still takes a lot of hard working volunteers to make it a good race.

Nice one bewleys, just registered for the Strawberry Half.

Have done it several times in the past, and loved it each time.

Always a good, well organised, if tough event....
