Enniskillen player Richard Reid took the first final place in the 2012 Piano Bar tournament after a thrilling 3-2 final win over Sean McGowan.
46 players entered in all and there were plenty of shocks and great performances along the way. Aodhagen o'Neill took the major scalp of the night to eliminate Brendan Dolan in the last 16, whilst in the last 8 Michael Timoney managed to overcome the challenge of the new whizz kid in Fermanagh Darts , Shane Doherty. Shane at the tender age of 11 mopped up three competitions over the christmas period in the local area and is fast becoming a feared opponent. he narrowly missed double 13 for an 11 dart finish before Timoney booked his place. In the other quarter finals Pat McDonald beat Aodhagen O'Neill 3-2, Sean McGowan beat Colm Mulvey and Richard Reid defeated Gordon Burleigh in the other all Fermanagh clash. In the semi finals Sean McGowan beat Michael Timoney 3-0 and Richard Reid beat Pat McDonald. The final saw the first 4 legs being shared out and with the decider in the balance Richard Reid took out a tidy 116 finish to book his place. Plenty of 180's on the night and only seven places left to book as Eamons Memorial tournament got off to a great start.

Irvinestown's Eamon McGovern , Runner up in 2011 returned to the final night for the third consecutive year on another night of high quality darts in Eamon's Piano Bar , Blacklion. Aodhagen O'Neill , Brendan Dolan and Campbell Jackson all tasted defeat before the quarter final stage , emphasizing the talent that took part in the field of 38 players.
In the quarter finals , Noel Reilly beat James McAdam , despite a fine 160 checkout from james. JR Dolan defeated Michael Dolan. Eamon McGovern beat Stephen Ganley and Sean mcGowan beat Tom Leonard. In the Semi Finals Sean McGowan returned to the final for the second week in a row by beating JR Doherty and Eamon McGovern beat Noel Reilly. In similar fashion to last week the final went the distance with Eamon McGovern booking his place 3-2, but it surely wont be long until Sean McGowan books his place in finals night and he could well be the man to beat as week 3 looms large.

There is a posse heading to blacklion tonight from Boho, headed by Noel Gileece, he could be a danger to all tonight as he was superb last monday night down in the Linnet....

Brendan Dolan Took the honours in Week 3 In Blacklion and is on course for another crack at the title. 46 players took part on a blustery night in blacklion but in contrast to the harsh weather outside , the darts were brilliant on the night. In the last 8 Sean McGowan beat Peter Savage , Micheal Timoney Defeated Brookeboro thrower James McAdam. Brendan Dolan beat Eugene McDermott and Campbell Jackson Beat Noel Reilly. In the Semi Final Brendan Beat Campbell Jackson and Sean McGowan beat Michael Timoney. In a high quality final Brendan overcame McGowan 3-1 but surely it wont be long Until the Irish International McGowan finds a path to The final night , having lost three deciders so far....

53 players took Part as the Competition produced another dramatic finish and a Newcomer took his place in Finals night. In the last 8 Richard McDermott defeated John Gallagher (Donegal) Sean McGowan aiming to go one better after 3 near misses took out Campbell Jackson in a cracker, James Deery from Beleek Took the scalp of Aodhagen O Neill although O Neill was unlucky not to progress having had darts in his hand to progress and Rory Blane from Carrick On Shannon defeated James McGrath (jnr). In The semi final Sean McGowan defeated James Deery and Rory Blane beat Richard McDermott 3-2 . In The Final after going close the last 3 weeks Sean McGowan finally looked as though he was booking his ticket for finals night, sitting at 2-2 he lined up a Double 8 for victory but he wired the effort , allowing Blane in to win 3-2 and seal a first finals night for the Carrick Man.

Fair play to ye. Hope you enjoyed it. And spread the word..... Donegal has plenty of fine throwers capable of going well up in blacklion. Would love to see the likes of McCloskey coming up.....

The Finals night is starting to take a familiar look about is as Cavans Aodhagen O'Neill booked a place in the finals in a night when 50 players took part in the Piano Bar. After a great series of games the Semi Finals saw James McAdam take on Campbell Jackson and Aodhagen O'Neill take on the consistent James Deery. Jackson had in the quarter finals defeated Sean McGowan 3-0 ending his fine run to the last 4 final heats. James McAdam holds the highest checkout of the tournament at 160 and he took the first semi 3-1. Aodhagen O'Neill beat James Deery 3-1 in the second semi. In the Final , O'Neill took an early advantage and despite resistance from the Brookeboro man , O'Neill won 3-1. Only Three weeks to go now and a host of likely candidates will attempt to win the three remaining places

Sean McGowan finally clinched his place in the finals night after so many near misses in the first 4 weeks heats. 47 players lined up for this 6th week and in the quarter finals John Joe Dolan beat James Deery. Colin Brady beat James McAdam , Mickey Mansell beat Campbell Jackson and Sean McGowan beat Boho thrower , Noel Gileece 3-0. In the Semis McGowan stepped up gear and defeated N.I international player , Mansell by an impressive 3-0 scoreline. In the other semi Colin Brady led John Joe Dolan 2-0. Dolan brought it back to 2-2 but it was brady who prevailed 3-2. In the Final McGowan was not to be denied another time and he won , again by 3 legs to nil meaning he had accounted for the last 3 opponents with out loosing a leg.

Afterwards we caught up with a relieved McGowan who relected on his few weeks of nearly misses. He said that after loosing the previous week (vs Campbell Jackson) was probably the kickstart he needed for the weekend to come where he was on international duty in Fleetwood for The Republic Of Ireland in the six nations. Facing up to England where he faced players of the calibre of Martin Adams , Scott Waites and John Walton and kicking off at least four games in the England match with maximums was enough to convince the popular Sligo native that his luck was about to change. He finished 10th in the average table overall and just knew when Monday night came round to travel to ,Blacklion where McGowan is a permanaent fixture on Finals night that he would put the records right , and he did that quite emphatically.

Now onto week seven and many players will again try to gain that valuable final spot. John Joe Dolan , James Deery and James McAdam have in the last few weeks showed the kind of form needed to claim such a place , however they face stiff competition from the Likes of Mickey Mansell , the defending champion and the always impressive Campbell Jackson.

47 players took part in the seventh heat of this tournament and Mickey Mansell from Clonoe In Co.Tyrone , the 2011 champion finally booked his place in finals night. In the Last 8 John Joe Dolan beat Paul Maguire, Thomas Nevin beat Raymond Mulvey, Mickey Mansell beat William Burleigh and Peter Savage beat Eugene McDermott. In the semi finals John Joe beat Thomas Nevin and Mickey Mansell beat Peter Savage. John Joe Dolans bid to join brother Brendan in the finals night was thwarted in the finale as the Tyrone Thrower won 3-1.

One Week Left now and all to play for.....

47 entries on the night and a new name emerged to claim a final night place in the shape of Anthony Mullarkey. In the quarter Finals Raymond Mulvey defeated 11 year old Shane Doherty, the Young Belcoo thrower taking some serious scalps en route to the quarters. Colin Brady defeated Noel Reilly, Anthony Mullarkey beat John McGinley and William Burleigh beat Pat McDonald. In the Semi Finals Raymond Mulvey beat Colin Brady and Anthony Mullarkey beat William Burleigh. The final was of a very high standard and Anthony got the better of last years Semi Finalist Raymond to claim a final place alongside a player he has played pairs with in the past , Sean McGowan.
