I'd say about a hundred metres after the entrance for the manor, coming from woodenbridge, a bit before the dogleg part of the road, it stood in my fecking lane. Saw noone coming the other way, so drove around it. If anything was to notice it was that it was fairly glassy eyed staring into the headlights. Wasn't around on the way back, though. It was crossing the road before we got near it, then it suddenly decided to stand where it was. Same thing happened just before kilcarra a few minutes earlier, but obviously with a different dog.

If it was after midnight then that was the manor dog you saw with out question
known as the devils dog you were very lucky that your car didnt pack up

    And Careful Now.... BECAUSE

They say it's as big as four cats, and it's got a retractable leg so as it can leap up at you better and you know what Ted, it lights up at night, and it's got four ears. Two of them are for listening and the other two are kind of back-up ears, and it's claws are as big as cups and for some reason it's got a tremendous fear of stamps and Mrs. Doyle was tellin' me that it's got magnets on it's tail so's if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you, and instead of a mouth it's got four arses. And when he yawns it sounds like Liam Neeson chasing a load of hens around inside a barrel.

    we're struggling!

It seems to live around private land, particularly that of a bible camp. Going in to a bible camp with guns is normally frowned upon.

Unless you're in certain parts of the US where it's obligational :D

Being a complete sceptic myself I know no one really believes these stories until you witness them first hand. I don't expect anyone to believe my sighting but I know its true as does the chap that was with me and that's all that really matters. Myself and another chap were stalking in Kilmacanogue and while driving back down a boreen on the way home a black cat crossed the road about 50 yards infront of the jeep. Of course anyone that was told the story took the piss as I did when I heard stories of this type. But as I said its only when you see it you can actually fully believe.
That Kilmacanogue is a strange place alright. I once seen a monkey and parrots all over the place down there:Dturns out theres always something escaping from the petshop in Kilmacanogue. On a more serious note I have been shooting all over Wicklow on an almost daily basis during all sorts of hours and have never seen anything like this. I posted on another thread recently where farmers in Kilcoole in Wicklow were convinced a Big Black Cat was killing sheep and to cut a long story short it was a black German Shephard which suprisingly enough had a similar sort of silhouette of a large cat when seen at distance. Im not saying that I dont believe any of the stories and have a friend who would bet his life he seen a black Panther in the wicklow mountains back in the 80's but like Garv123 said with all the camera phones today and by the amount of sightings it would be nice to see a pic.

Has anyone seen the 'Diesel Queen' aka 'Monica' lately is there a chance that she could have been eaten by one of these wild animals?

I used to hear these kinds of stories as a child and teenager when my father took me to pubs after fishing/ shooting club meetings ...
They set my imagination on fire. The 50lb brown trout, the 60 inch cock pheasant, the 18 pointer red stag etc. etc.

Now Im reading them on boards and all the comments.. takes the fun out of it!!!!

The same used to happen when people mentioned sightings of wild boar and muntjac.. Those few that ripped the piss shut up fairly quick when the proof was shown. Those of us that have seen something first hand know what to believe but I suppose eventually the animal(s) will be shot/captured !

Dont start threads claiming the existence of strange creatures at large in Ireland without some sort of evidence

even as Grizzly said a photograph of a footprint, ..somthing
Otherwise its just hearsay rumors and tall tales

sorry mate by you cant blame people for being sceptics

i'd have thought that if it was that close to woodenbridge one of the gamekeepers over the last 30 years in ballyarthur would have seen it or put a bullet through it lol

But I didn't claim the existence of a strange creature I was the one that said I dont know to believe him or not

I put up this thread to see was there any evidence not claiming I had evidence

But I suppose your right you will always get sceptacism no matter what you post up

    No harm done sure

That would be hard to shoot as the manor dog is a ghost unless he has silver bullets they might work i would,nt like to try.

A load of old pre decimal pennies fired from a blunderbuss was supposed to do the trick for those kind of ghosts.:)

No one will believe me but when i was about 14 i was chased by one. Everyone thought it was a big black dog but it was definitely from the cat family. We were in a holiday village in Wexford.

would love to have seen croc's released in Ireland, river walks could take an interesting twist
unfortunate thing is they wouldn't last too long in the colder winters
