Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I scoffed and scorned it, and then by accident started watching it before Christmas, and have come to appreciate the sharp wit and in jokes of O'Carroll and Co.

    You feeling the same? :o

Has the writing improved slightly since the move to the BBC, or is that just the West Brit in me talkin?

I'm more annoyed that now that BBC bought it, they are re-doing all the episodes. Plus, BOC did mention about the biscuits "up and down the UK"

The daughter's voice in it goes thru my head!

For every two episodes there may be one decent line/joke so definitely not worth watching imo!

I have friends in England who love it and have gone to see his shows, imo its a terrible show but watching it from a point of view from anyone outside Ireland I can understand why they would find it funny :)

It seems to be going down well in the UK.

He could do with less eff this and eff that. Feck the odd time is grand but he overdoes it a bit with the language.

TBH an over reliance on fcuk exposes weakness in scripts. You can't keep using fcuk to insert humour and life into a script if it isn't already there.Having said that the phrasing of the jokes has definately improved from his original dvd series.Your frame of mind as you watch it will definately determine whether or not you find it funny.

Telling 40 year old jokes aren't witty.

Had the misfortune to catch a few mins of it over Christmas when (s)he was talking to a neighbour who had lost their job.

(S)he suggested that they top themselves.

Straight out of the Ahern handbook, a real - and pointless, because it wouldn't be funny at any time - two-fingers to those who have lost their jobs and about as "funny" as ****ting a whole melon.

Tried watching it once, but after several jokes that I first heard from him in 1994, I thought that was enough for me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,808 ✭✭✭Caveman1

I'm a fan of Brendan I carroll but his biggest let down is he always repeats jokes, I get a laugh out of mrs browns boys, it's so stupid it's funny, his daughter is a fine thing too :D

a man dressed in drag shouting expletives does not shout original comedy to me. mrs brown is basically the only character on the show, as she basically interrupts anything interesting that any other character may have to say, and this is supposed to be interpreted as funny. was forced to watch an episode. won't watch it again.

My friend in Scotland who normally shares my sense of humour thinks Mrs Brown's Boys is hilarious. His mates do too. I'm stumped.
