Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great city, really easy to get around, the people are spot on too. The heineken there is just the nicest you'll ever taste, so the Heineken museum is a must, very good tour free pints, gift etc. Anne Franks house is worth a visit too.. The red light area ???? have a look just to see, like.

Any cider version of the heineken tour :p Still sounds like a nice tour. Good suggestions, will definitely have a look at those. Need to make a list for the 4 days! I'm sure we'll get lost anyway and not stick to it but it's good to have some key places in mind.

There certainly seem to be a lot of museums! Even a museum quarter...Will visit those ones after the sex museum. :pac:

End of this month so i know a lot of things will not be going on that would be in summer.

Public transportation looks pretty sweet there. Ticket that covers various forms of travel. The canal tours look nice if not a little expensive.

Don't talk to the "friendly" locals on the Red Light District after midnight. They will tell you a sob story to get money, and/or try to sell you the harder drugs. If you show any interest, they will follow you to your hotel, continually asking if you'll buy some.

There are some good cafes outside the RLD, with the Dampkring coffee shop such an example. It's located to the south-west of the RLD and is relaxed. It also has a great selection of weed, with a sandwich/milkshake bar on the 1st floor. When I was there, you could rent out bongs there if you didn't have one yourself.

The cafe's are like the pubs here: lots of them, all offering the same.

    Tar,

The Jordaan area is Amsterdam at its best imo. The 'nine streets', 3 mins from Dam square, offers a funky assemblage of second-hand bookstores, indie boutiques, deli's and retro knick-knackery.

As for touristy things to do, climbing the Westerkerk tower affords terrific views of the city and it's beside the Anne Frank house (buy tickets online if you intend to go).

If you fancy a smoke but have an aversion to Bob Marley, badly painted murals and pricey weed, Paradox (just off the Bloemgracht) sells itself as 'not big, loud or stupid'.

I like the way Author Michael Smith sums the place up.
