Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mergers & Acquisitions or Investment Banking.

As I wont finish my education until 2013 I was wondering were would I go to pursue a career in either of the listed careers? Is there any grad programs I could look into? I understand I may have to take on such titles as a Business/ Financial analyst and work my way up the ladder, well from what I have heard anyway. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

First of all, what's your degree discipline?

To go into mergers I imagine you would want to be working for one of the parties involved be it legal or financial. So if you're a Law student then perhaps look at firms who might specialise in this type of thing.

If you're a finance/IT grad then you could go into a grad program in an investment bank and work your way to the point that you might be able to horizontally move into a team working with mergers.

Obviously the investment banking route provides opportunity to work in both the areas you mentioned but your decisions will probably be scoped by your degree discipline

Keep an eye on the investment banks hiring schedules in that case.

Speaking from my own employers, we usually get the graduate process going in mid October. I'd imagine many more work on similar time lines so be sure not to miss the boat.
