Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I just checked my credit card statement for Dec & there is a charge for €35 for a Homecare Insurance Ltd. Now I have no idea what this is or how it ended up on my bill. I have e-mailed MBNA regarding it & am waiting for a reply but can anyone shed any light on it? Or has something similar happened to you?

Also I have credit cad protection payments on each statement but I can't recall ever looking for it.
Is it legal that they charge me for something I didn't look for 7 can I be refunded these payments?

    Any advice appreciated, thanks!

Homecare Insurance seem to be insurance for mobile phones among other consumer devices. Did you get a phone recently and sign up for insurance?

On the card protection well if the bank tried to sell the insurance to you and you said yes they are entitled to take these payments. Ask the bank for a copy of your credit agreement signed as you aren't sure you signed up for it. If you signed for it not much you can do about getting your money back but you could cancel it going forward.

No I didn't get a new phone & don't use phone insurance because I personally think it's a bit of a rip off. Another argument for another day!

As regards the payment protection I can't ever remember looking for it. So do I get on to my credit card company to ask for this? And how difficult can they be to deal with something like this?
Sorry for the silly questions but I'm not really well up on these things.

@derrycat: thanks for the offer but I think I'll paddle my own canoe on this one.

I think its a ripoff too but thats a different argument.

I would ring your card company and firstly tell them the Homecare transaction is not one you authorised and let them investigate. Tell them you dont remember signing for protection insurance and would like a copy of your credit agreement to check this out. They should have it handily enough and should not be a problem getting it.

If this is signed not much you can do. Even if you didnt go in looking for it they may have offered it to you and you accepted which is normal.

If you didnt sign it then I would tell the credit card company you never got protection insurance and would like a refund for insurance payments debited since card issued.

    Thanks for that.
