Going to Surfers Paradise for two nights between the 8th and 10th of february. I'm not too sure what to expect of this place, I've met people who've both loved it and hated it, comes across as a bit pretentious, full of alleged 'beautiful people' but that type of atmosphere could annoy me after a while. Still the rides should be fun.

    Anyone been??

You only have 2 days there so you should be fine.

Surfers is a nice wide surf beach that backs onto multiple skyscraper apartments and hotels. There are body beautiful people and you may even encounter the meter maids, it's just how it is there. Pubs are a bit hit and miss, drink some Goldies if you want to blend in with the locals.
If you don't want to splurge on food, hit the RSL by the beach. Tucker is usually ok there and makes a change from all the take out joints around it. There are very fancy restaurants also, a lot of them are in the large hotels eg Marriott.

You could spend a day each in the fun parks, so you won't have time for all. The food in these places is pretty awful and $$ for what it is. There are no water fountains either and they charge a lot for the small bottles. Try bring your own.

A realtor from Melbourne once told me that Surfers is where panel beaters from Ferntree Gully buy their holiday homes. It's a pretty good summary.

It's only two days. So not sweat it. Beach, skyscrapers*, pubs/clubs and amusment parks.

*The tallest building in the southern hemisphere is in Surfer's.

I had a week in surfers and loved it, mainly due to the hostel i stayed in..

The place is called Surf'n'Sun and the guy who own's it's a Dub. Bang on lad, gave us his car when we missed the bus out to the water park and so on... I'd recommend anyone to stay there

Saw Justin Bieber the last time I was there, couldn't get close enough to give him a kicking though.

Surfers is grand, albeit very expensive. As Mellor said, beach, pubs and amusement parks and hopefully some sunshine. Its a nice stretch of beach
but what I found ridiculous was the fact that after 2pm the skyscrapers block off the sun from the beach.

Still is good for a laugh for a few days. Any longer than 5 days is too much though.

Was there the other day for four days and loved it. Third time there overall and I'll be going back asap, even though it rained torrentially the entire time.

If you can afford a night in Jupiter's Casino then do it, awesome place and they give a heap of drinks tokens when you check in.
