Is 5th year absolutely necessary for success?

I'm almost 20 and really want to do what I should have done years ago. :o If I go back into a secondary school I just want to get it done in as quick a time as possible. I'm eligible for Back To Education Allowance so if the application is successful money for grinds wouldn't be a problem.

Is it too much in too little time?

I think it is possible to cover things in a year, but it depends on your subject choices and whether they're Higher or Ordinary level. You'd have to put in a lot of work but if you're motivated to do it I don't see why not! ;)

Why not go to a specialist adult ed. place who have most of their students doing it in one year?

I repeated my leaving cert a few years ago in Rathmines, after doing a year in college. I only did one year, and the whole course was covered.

You'd have to put the hours in, but there's no reason why you shouldn't do well if you work hard.

Due to moving countries with my family as a teenager yada yada yada I had no leaving cert. Did it in a year in the Institute on Leeson Street and got very decent points at the age of 19. 6 higher level subjects, one ordinary. Very doable as long as you're willing to put in work yourself.
