    Hi everyone,
    I am travelling to Ireland with a group of third level students from Germany in May. We'll be in Dublin for a couple of days and I've spent hours on the internet trying to find some evening activities for them. The problem is that we have a few under 18s with us, so we can't take them to pubs or nightclubs or anything like that. Can anyone recommend some things to do with a bunch of foreign students in the evening in Dublin?

    Thank you in advance for your help!

    Where will you be based?

    Tours, cinema, theatre, bowling, gym / pool.

    We'll be in the city centre, on the Quays. It's a large group (nearly 50), which I'll probably split into smaller groups because taking 50 people to the cinema is next to impossible. Can you recommend a cinema or bowling alley in the centre? (am trying to avoid to much travelling around, from a purely logistical point of view.) I've checked theatre / concert listings for the time we're there, but from over here (in Germany), I can only find the listings for the bigger venues and there's nothing on at the time we're there that would suit the age group.

    Cinemas - all are central, expect the Lighthouse, which is 1.6km from O'Connell Bridge. Up to date listings: http://entertainment.ie/cinema/Default.asp?UserLocation=10&film_title=
    * Sayoy (O'Connell Street) - 6 screens - mainstream
    * Cineworld (Parnell Street) - 17(?) screens - mainstream, some art house / foreign language, a bit more expensive than the others.
    * Screen (Hawkins Street) - 3 screens - art house / foreign language, some classic, some mainstream
    * Irish Film Institute (Eustace Street) - 3 screens - predominantly art house / foreign language
    * Lighthouse (Smithfield) - 4 screens - art house / foreign language, some mainstream

    Music: http://entertainment.ie/music/gig-listings.asp Note that quite a few venues will be alcohol-related, but this need not necessarily stop under-18s for early shows.

    Most theatres are fairly central, but check the details as some of them are well out into the suburbs: http://entertainment.ie/going-out/events-listings.asp?subcat=Theatre&UserLocation=10

    No bowling in the city centre, but in Stillorgan, Coolock, Blanchardstown, Tallaght, all 6-12km from the city centre.

    With a group, if you arrange to go off-peak, you might get a discount. To get a student discount, you must have a student card! Student discounts tend to be better Monday-Thursday.

    By May, sunset should be quite late - 21:00-21:30 a walking tour or similar might be possible. Weather at that time of year is usually dry and sunny.

    Oh, slightly exotic: http://www.dublinsightseeing.ie/GhostBus/index.aspx

    Last summer a few groups of foreign students would come to Tolka Park on a Friday evening for a Shelbourne FC match. Discounts would be available if you got onto the club prior to the game.
