Red or white wine with a meal/at home and dependent on food.

White wine spritzer if our for a few. Coors Lights if out for the night. Vodka and Cranberry if out on aforementioned night and things start to get silly.

I find spritzers good for staying hydrated/not getting tipsy too quickly!

this sounds like the twist i need… perhaps there is not much I need to change.
What do you put in your wine to make it a spritzer?

Ah im a bulmers woman myself, followed by west coast cooler rose.
If im in a very naughty mood there might just be a shot or two of tequilla rose.
    :D

Harp for me, every time. Shame is, in the states you can't find it in any bars; you have to hunt down a specifically Irish pub - nowhere else has it on tap. :p

Screwdrivers when I can afford them, bottle's of miller lately because I drink less and still manage to have a good night (because I get stupid drunk on beer) but I had a bottle of Paulaner non alcoholic stuff last night. It was rank but I prefer sobriety on a week day.

I don't drink a lot but when I am out it would totally depend on my mood and what I felt like at that time, but I would normally stick to the same few.

    Red Wine,
    Vodka and tonic,
    West coast cooler rose,
    coors light,
the old time I would have a alcopop of some kind.

you can't beat a decent glass of wine

that said, i hate when pubs give you those mini bottles of wine instead of a glass from a proper bottle, they're so full of preservatives and all that, they give me the worst hangovers!

Vodka just reminds me of swigging it out of naggins and being 14, maybe I'm just a wimp and can't drink gin or vodka.

I started drinking wine and then it started becoming a little too acidy and sweet/ going to my head very quickly for my liking so I started to acquire the taste of beer, then that was very dehydrating.. so what do I do drink water no.. I start of the whiskey with loads of diet coke (mmm chemicals) then I found captain morgans.

wow that was ott basically, chronologically vodka, white wine, beer, whiskey, rum.

Trying to abstain for a while shucks.

Probably smithwicks as most places have it. If I can get it, then O'hara's red is gorgeous. Really, really love the stuff. :3

Hate any wine it's rotten. Hate Red Bull yuck.

Usually drink Bud. / Miller if passing a few hours of the evening in a Pub. Pint of Bulmers an odd time. But, Vodka Rules! When out I Smirnoff Ice it. :D Love the stuff. It's so refreshing. I'm not too gone on Wkd Blue, was surprised at that, thought I would love it. Never bother with Whiskies I didn't get the taste of it off older family members even though they love it! Brandy or Gin ......nah. More a beer and vodka person. Oohhh Peach Schnapps is another I lovvve, would live on the stuff. :) Could do some concocting with bottles of Peach Schnapps, Malibu, and Jamaican Rum now and again. :P Fat Frogs are yummydelicious. Rarely/barely have/get the opportunity for Cocktails never mind know the names of them lol! Fat Frogs is about all I know! And love may I add! They're quite nice too. :)

Yuck there's a Cocktail called Bloody Tampon!! Ewwww!!
    :confused::eek::pac:

I like Mickey Finns - A GreenEyedMonster sounds nice. :)

For a night out it would be Jameson (on ice), or cocktails on a girlie night out. If I'm having dinner, I'd probably have a G&T beforehand and wine during dinner, red or white, depending on the meal.

    a voddy & Phil

Have been racking my brains to figure out what this is!! Well vodka obviously, but the other one :D

And to answer the question - white wine, red wine or whiskey + diet coke mostly

Tried a Jaigerbomb tonight. Not bad- it tasted like fizzy cough syrup. Only thing is: my heart's going like the clappers and it cost me €9.

its pretty much the only shot I like, cant stand jager, have a bottle of it in my freezer and have no idea who owns it, its just there now. makes me laugh when people in pubs do shots of mickey finns and act like its the craziest shot ever, you know the people who insist on going "woooooooooo!" even though its 10pm and the bar is half empty, drink the bottle, that'll impress me more than your weak ass shot lol.

Mickey Finns is glorified apple juice. I'm surprised they don't sell it on the same shelf as Mi Wadi.

It's top of my ideal man traits list too. If a guy can't handle his tequila, he can't handle me :P

tequila is awesome, i love how in some bars in the states if you tip right they give you free stuff, or the barstaff even do shots with you, its probably watered down but hey, you barely get a smile out of most barstaff over here

Tequila almost killed me after I was challenged to down half a pint of it. My uncle had to pick me up and carry
to me to the car, where I proceeded to almost suffocate myself with the plastic bag I had to be sick into, when I put it over my head. Got back to house pucked all over the bedroom into a waste paper bin which I poured over my head, and my uncle then called his daughter who's a nurse to come make sure I was ok (could barely breathe at this stage) and by the time she came, I was KO'd on the floor.

Have not touched it since. Even the word makes me feel nausous

Ugh.. tequila is evil. My last year in college I did about 10 shots of tequila the first night back and was sick for about a week.

If I am just out for a few it would be Bulmers light, but if I was out for the night its usually vodka with a dash of white, funny thing though the next day I can never drink the same thing I had the night before unless I have either a vodka and orange juice or vodka and cranberry to start then I am fine!

Oh and Pastis, I love Pastis. Ricard is my favourite. It's such an old man drink but it's all I ever drink when I'm in France! Good job my Dad has a bar over there with infinite supplies...WIN!

What do you put in your wine to make it a spritzer?

If having a spritzer at home always soda water but if out for the night usually sparkling water as it's way cheaper. I always put a couple of ice-cubes in as well. I love vino and a spritzer is a great alternative if you've a long day ahead of you like a wedding or Christmas lunch, definitely helps the hangover the next day too! :)

I'm a huge fan of budvar non alcoholic, tis the closest thing to real beer you can get. Becks NA is pish and cobra is really sweet.

I'll induldge in a white wine spritzer on occasion and a baileys the odd time, just for the gorgeous taste! When I drank I was all about the malibu, I seem to like super sweet drinks. I used to have a signature cocktail I made for friends made from malibu, passoa, pineapple juice and west coast cooler, really really sweet but just yum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭Nolimits12

Jagerbombs!!, malibu and coke or red bull, peach schnapps and coke, pint of bulmers with a dash of black currant, vodka and lime (awfull heartburn though!), passoa and orange juice nomnomnom :) Oh and a nice baileys coffee during winter is good Ohh and tesco are doing this wine its 3 euro and its partially deacoholised but it tastes really good! Its like a cheap alcopop thats not too sugary and doesnt have that bitter/dry wine taste.

I try and stick to vodka and soda (because I'm secretly an old lady) I found that the sugar hangover (from coke/fanta) just compounded the real hangover.

But then it gets to that stage in the night and I'm ordering vodka martinis (two olives if you don't mind) because in my head I am a) rich b) Katherine Hepburn when in reality I'm a) poor and b) closer to Dawn French.

Tia Maria and milk, but 2 at most. Don't drink that much.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,595 ✭✭✭The Lovely Muffin

I drink Martini and Tonic, Heineken (bottled only) with a slice of lemon, Bacardi Orange and any of the Blossom Hill white/rosé wines.

If I'm in pubs I stick to Bacardi or else have one or two Heinekens with lemon, any more than two and I need to go home as I get quite sleepy :o

Love trying all sorts of weird and wonderful cocktails.
My favourite was a banana and cherry imbued hawthorn vodka cocktail, with a very naughty name, that I had in a bar in Dublin a few years back now. One of the great things about cocktails like this is that they're fun, as well as simply being delicious:)

On a night out though, I generally just go for a plain old G&T or a white wine spritzer. I can't drink beer. The last two times I had beer I broke out in a really dreadful, blotchy skin irritation.

    Morgans and Diet Coke

For a cocktail, can't beat a good properly made long island ice tea! Black russians are also nice!

At home chilling out, Koppaberg Strawberry and Lime :)

I love an aul glass of Jagermeister and Coke...usually get strange looks when I order it though.

Also love a good fruity cocktail on occasion...The best cocktail I've ever tasted, ever, was the paradise punch from TGI Friday's- back in the day of those big round glass when they were generous with the fruit. It just doesn't taste the same any more :(
