I could never watch the tiger fight scene in The jungle Book : frightened the life out of me. And I only saw the flying monkey scene for the first time this year from the Wizzard of Oz!! :0

Trap door frightened the sh*te out of me as a kid, Christ I'm getting the heebie-jeebies now just thinking about it.

+1 on Ren & Stimpy, that was really, really weird.

Also, Nickolodeon had a cartoon called 'arrgh Real Monsters' or something that I genuinely had nightmares over for years.

When I was really young I was petrified of Fraggle Rock.

Also, scarred for LIFE from being made Watership Down in school when I was in Juniour Infants - I think the teacher ended up with a class of 20-odd completely hysterical kids :( Can't even cope with hearing that poxy Bright Eyes song even today :(

Basically, its no wonder that I am a melancholic scaredy-cat. I blame the cartoons.

Not a cartoon but a kids film 'Return to Oz' frightened the bejaysus out of me when I went to see it on the cinema. Very dark movie and still is (DL it recently to see if it was as bad as I remembered).

    Mr Blobby.

What madman thought children would warm to him?

Christ, he was a nightmare figure if ever there was one.

Anyone remember the Demon Headmaster? Used to really creep me out as a kid. Watched a couple of episodes recently though, and just found it laughably bad (wouldn't recommend it if you want to retain that pleasant cloud of nostalgia around it).

Another one that got under my skin a bit was the Animorphs series (I only ever really read the books, but there was a TV show too so it counts!). Though it wasn't a particularly scary show in itself, the concept of it horrified me - alien slugs crawling in through your ear and taking control of your body

Glad to see Rimini Riddle get a mention too. I was almost convinced that that show was a half-remembered nightmare from my childhood. I'd love to get a chance to watch it again.

It is not a cartoon and my description is going to be massively vague but I remember a show from - I think The Childrens channel - where two pre teens were going around with a magic rock each. There was also a mentor, a man who would show up occasionally to help them use the rocks.

The rocks - which I think were egg shaped - when concentrated on enough would glow and become the only weapons that would be effective against the shows "monsters". I think only part of it glowed, though cant remember if it was one half or something deep in the rock.

The monsters in this show were pretty much piles of tentacle slime which by size and shape were obviously men or women under blankets and hunched up.

The monsters when moving would leave a trail of slime and make a weird kinds of "shooom" noise that almost sounded like a cheap effects laser gun.

Vague I know but that is all I can remember but I remember that it used to freak the hell out of me. If I remember right the two kids kept splitting up and cornered and their magic rocks would only work when they were together.

Ridley Scott's movie Legend used to freak the bejesus out of me, and it was alway on sky movies back in the 80's, especially the goblins and Meg Mucklebones

and Tim curry as Darkness, one of the greatest makeup creations ever, skip to 4min30, even the way he appears out of the mirror is creepy as ****.
