Out of Date Mince Pies

The annual event has occurred once again! I bought too many mince pies and as soon as Christmas was over, visitors disappeared and we are left with two dozen mince pies dated 4th January. Is it just a case now of smothering with custard, or place them sacrificially in the brown bin?

You'll need to make up your own mind on this. If a random poster advises you to eat them & you get sick it places boards.ie in a dodgy position. Sorry.
