Line Attenuation & Noise Margin Help

    these are my stats,, does anybody see anything wrong there

    ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 3072 kbps 384 kbps Line Attenuation 54.0 db 30.0 db Noise Margin 10.2 db 15.0 db

    Could anybody please tell me what vodafone broadband are like..I can only get 3mb here at the moment with eircom but the vodafone website says up to 8mb,, Id like to no what is it like for online gaming..I live in the countryside if that helps

    Threads merged. Don't start multiple threads when 1 will do.

    All broadband is sold as "up to" a maximum speed, but there is never a guarantee of that speed. DSL is heavily distance and line quality dependant, so you get as much as your line can handle. Vodafone re-sell eircom broadband, so it won't be any different.

    In your case, 54dB attenuation is going to be the biggest limiting factor, 3Mbps is about as much as you can hope for.

    it looks like your a long way away from an exchange.... dsl sucks the further away from an exchange you are.

    your best option is to phone digiweb to see if u can get their wifi service

    if you can you can get upto 12mb which is more than enough for gaming. but you will need the little square external antenna (supplied by digiweb) to get a solid signal all the time. and you dont need a phoneline as digiweb can provide a phone via their wifi system
