Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Or just make a US PSN account. I have an Irish, American, Japanese and Australian account. Just make up a fake address.

Do you need something like unblockus to do that?

Nope, just create an account as normal and use a US address.

I'm sure if it isn't on the EU store when it updates tomorrow then it won't be long before it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,311 ✭✭✭mrDerek

id be very surprised if that works saul since all internet traffic is handled by eu servers youv to set it manually so the machine thinks its in the us

No you don't. They link it to your post code/zip code and payment type. It's not IP locked.

I just found a random address in Florida and used it. Once you change the country the PS Store will change to that region.

    :D

Just in case there's anyone that doesn't know, San Andreas in the XBLA store and has been for a couple of years now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,081 ✭✭✭ollie1

Is San Andreas not on the US store yet? I created a US account and can not see it anywhere.

Meaning thats the first PS2 Classic game to go above the $9.99 price. TBH its a bit too expensive for a game so old. Guarantee this will be €15. Stupid price. €10 is already overpriced.

If it's 15 quid there's no way in hell I'm buying it.

I hoped it was a tenner. Im mad to buy resi 4 hd but 20 quid is too much for aps2 game even if it is a hd upgrade.

Im not saying it will be, but all PS2 Classics are $10/€10. This is the first thats gone above that amount. I wont be buying it at that price. It can be bought on PC/Mac for €5 or less through steam when they have their sales. And lets be honest. It doesnt need a beast of a computer to run.

I couldn't wait any longer and borrowed copies of Vice City and SA a few weeks ago. PC (self build 2008) is more than capable of playing both with everything maxed out. Point and click on a PC, different experience to PS3 and it looks much better.

That's a disgrace to be honest with you. They know this was one of the most anticipated PS2 Classics so they've decided to hike the price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,751 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

The EU store's a complete joke, they still haven't released CS:GO (they aren't going to really) and every game that's released on both eu/us stores is more expensive in Europe because they've never heard of exchange rates. Despite Sony's beliefs 15 dollars does not equal 15 euro.

Its only 11.50 according to current exchange rates so they are trying to get an extra 3.50 euro from us compared to the US Store.

Remember that US folks have to pay their state sales tax on top of the $15.

Its ridiculous, there is no reason to hike the prices up 50% for an 8 year old game. Its cheaper to buy GTA IV from Zavvi than it is to buy a PS2 game. What a JOKE!

Feck that anyway, piratebay. Here I come!

It's showing up for me. I'm just deciding whether or not I want to pay €15 for it since I own the game already but can't play it on my PS3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,311 ✭✭✭mrDerek

iv spent 15e on worse things b4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,166 ✭✭✭Beefy78

I'll be buying it. I've got it on PS2 and I think I may even have it on PC but I'll definitely get €15 worth of value out of buying it on PS3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,311 ✭✭✭mrDerek

    nevermind got it :)

Meh. I've got films that I've bought on Blu-Ray, DVD and VHS. It's no different.

If you've got it on PS2 and don't want to pay €15 for it again then just play it on your PS2.

Have it on 360 (must get back to playing it actually). It's insane how poor the game looks now. Still fun, but looks like sh*t

I recently played through it on PC and was surprised at how well it has aged. Apart from the cutscenes I think it looks very good, especially when you compare it to Vice City.

At least with VHS->DVD->Blu Ray the quality of the product is getting better.

It's €5 lads, it won't break the bank. If the price is that big of a deal, dig out your PS2 instead.

Its not that. Its the principle of it that annoys me.

Well I downloaded it anyway. Obviously I wasn't expecting any improvement in graphics, but I honestly think it looks worse than it did on the PS2. Even tried it on an old TV and the aliasing is desperate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,166 ✭✭✭Beefy78

Yeah it's not aged well. I tried to play it on my launch PS3 a couple of years ago and couldn't deal with the graphics. I'll give it another go though.

Real shame because if any game deserved a polish-up then it was this one.

Well, I think my 360 version is suffering from bad blurring, popup and screentearing, but even then, it's insane how huge the city used to feel when I played it first and how empty and clunky it feels revisiting it. People give out about Liberty City in GTAIV, but you'd think there was a lot more than 4 years between their releases, new hardware or not.

Started getting into replaying GTA 3 last night. Does anyone else feel compelled when they're playing these games to complete things like finding the hidden packages and doing the paramedic missions straight away purely because of how difficult these become once the various gangs start shooting at you?

I think I've only ever completed the paramedic missions once as well.

I think I completed them all in GTA3 and Vice City, but not after that, and not straight away. I agree, it's probably something you should do as early as possible, but at the same time, it can be a slog to get through, especially when you know there are missions waiting for you. The games are still manageable without having to do them, and in most of the games there's not a lot to spend your money on anyway, so I don't mind buying ammo and armour.

Wish I'd done the firefighter ones in San Andreas before that final mission. Would have made that a sh*t-tonne easier

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,166 ✭✭✭Beefy78

You can do them later but there's one hidden item in particular which is difficult to do later (the one on the roof of the petrol station where you've got to walk up and along the narrow wall to get to it). It's a pain normally but is really difficult when you've got the mafia aiming their shotguns at you.

I always found the first island to be the easiest one for the paramedic missions, but again the ambulance doesn't last long if you've got people firing their shotguns at it.

I remember that I did do the firefighter mission in San Andreas and the final mission was easier for it. That was actually straight forward if you did it in and around the little towns between Los Santos & San Fierro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

I always do the first five or six missions to get a feel of things then go and do all the extras. IV didnt have as much but in the previous games I did as much as I could at the start. In San Andreas, leave the paramedic until you get to that small town on the bottom left of the map. It has a hospital so you just need to find an ambulance and it is simple. Everything else do in Los Santos. It's too easy to take a wrong turn and end up miles away in the other cities.

III and VC I did as much as I could after two or three missions. Got loads of money and guns and everything :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,094 ✭✭✭jd007

I always just go straight into the missions and leave everything else until afterwards.

I cant do that in any game.

Even in Red Dead Redemption I got 100% as soon as I
killed Agent Ross in the stranger mission, literally the end of the storyline.
Hope to do it again in GTA V

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,810 ✭✭✭Mackman

Got SA from the ps store. Only got to play for 10 mins or so, instantly more fun than GTA IV. The first mission I was cycling a bike, being chased by some punk ass ballas shooting at me while jumping off bridges and through alleyways. Can't wait to get a proper go at it

Someone on one of the PS blogs last week said that Vice City has been delayed because of issues getting the Michael Jackson songs re-licensed.

What a stupid reason to delay the game. THe could just leave out the songs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,166 ✭✭✭Beefy78

They could do but they don't want to leave out the songs as they're some of the more iconic songs on an iconic soundtrack.

Personally I'd rather the game be delayed for a couple of months and those be included.
