New laptop help

    Hi there all,

    Looking for an new laptop and looking for some feedback.
    Will be used to bring home work (some dedicated CAD related software, but doesn't need special PC specs) and do general web / email at home.
    Have an old desktop (2006) and a similar aged laptop which is barely workable but is still used a lot so ideally want something to replace both. Mobility not really key - mostly around the house, and bring in/out to work once a week maybe.

    Budget up to €1000 (excluding VAT) but won't use all that if not required - was more thinking in the €600-€800 range.
    Only bought dells before (but no special allegiance except i liked the customise option which doesn't really seem to apply to laptops) and I'm not up to date now except some posts I've read on here. I saw this today on Dell - €659 not using any discount codes.

    Any opinions on whether its good value? What should i look to improve?
    I should also say I'd like to able to connect with small network at work (windows SBS2003 with Domain) and from home I'd operate my work PC via a VPN and remote desktop application.
