Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys. Killed a 33 month CH bull this week. 444kg Grade U-1 fat 1+ Made 1250 before deductions. Works out less than 3/kg.

I would have thought 280 would be price maybe 10 cent more from specialist factories

What happens these type of bulls anyway. Is it not just burgers they go for?

With a FS of 1 those would be very tough burgers!! Yellow pack or similar I'd imagine.

It is not just in spec cattle really winner will be farmers with cattle that are in the right kill weight (250-375kgs DW) but out of spec for age

It up to individual factories, when you go below 2+ they can cut what they like.

They still won't get to prices of last yr and when they fall they will fall sharper than last yr. I'll try and have all stumps over 500kg sold in mart about mid July as i can see price in marts falling after that. So you still think we'll see €3.40 in factory by December as you said before?

Beef will be as dear as last year in July.mid 3 euros

lads got a few cull cows to sell soon should I sell soon or wait a couple a couple of weeks?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,239 ✭✭✭Willfarman

4.10 for good blks 4.20 heifers. A lot of strong grass cattle will start to come in 2 weeks time. Lads do them fairly well now for the winter and turn them in and out for meal so not much setback at turnout and done a serious thrive in the last 5 weeks.

Sell before July anyway. Find here that's when they get mastitis and they start becoming work.

Apparently Food Safety Authority were made aware that there is a good trade for angle dust in the boarder region for the last year and hence the factory testing. I would happily wager guys doing this age not full time farmers...

How do you make out they are part time farmers and what difference does it make if they are part or full time, it's just wrong.

People caught doing this should be regarded as economic terrorists. And treated as such by the courts. Wipes 10s of millions out of the economy.

It's not just Italy that has a mafia.. Diesel laundering, and tax evasive smuggling, drug dealing, bank robbery, cattle rustling, angel dust use and distribution, extortion,.. Take them on if you will but remember..

    They know where you live.

. No full time farmer would even countenance doing this. In my opinion the landholding should be sterilised - I.e can't be sold or rented out and his herd number be confiscated. I'm sick to the teeth of that ungovernable section of society doing what they want and brining the rest of us down...

Of course it's a part timer then that's just brilliant logic.

It is very logical. It's about time that people start paying for their crimes. Land has a strong value and if you render it worthless then that might actually act as a proper deterrent. SFP mean fook all to some people and losing that would knock a nights sleep out of them. Tie up the land and I reckon that would be a different story? Would you not agree?

Tie up land houses and all tangible assets such as cars lorries and machinery.. Freeze bank accounts.
Will it ever happen this side of the border? Like ****.

It's a full time farmer full time crook that's been lifted, he's not a nice man in any way and for that reason alone is it not logical he couldn't hold down a job. Now if you've all your surmising done he is a full time farmer a pure Arse to everyone that knows him, it doesn't matter if the lad worked as a monk he'd still be at something illegal he's just one of those lads you avoid.
