Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Koh Phangan Advice

    Can anyone recommend a 4*/5* hotel or resort on Koh Phangan for a honeymoon?
    Will be travelling in August '12 from Koh samui for about 11 nights.
    Ideally it'll be quiet, but close to a town for a change of scenery by night. so far I've only found seclusion or right in the middle of busy areas.
    Also I've heard bad reports of expensive travel on the island, €20-30 for short taxi rides or wedged on the back of a pick up. Is this to be believed?
    Finally, what activities based on or neas Phangan would you recommend, snorkeling etc?

    You want to stay on Koh Phangan for 11 nights?

    You're mad. In my opinion, it's one of the worst islands to stay on. It's fine if you're going for the full moon party but other than that I'd avoid it.

    I think, because it gets invaded by tourists and young people, the locals don't have much time for you and believe you're there just to drink and get drunk.

    If you do spend a couple of days there, go to the Amsterdam Bar. Nice bar and amazing views.

    It might be nice to stay there too and it's away from all the main parts.

    Taxi's are not €20/€30 - I think from the beach (main area) to Amsterdam Bar which is about 20 minutes was 400Baht.

    So many better islands though!

    Agreed. Koh Phangnan doesn't have anything to offer other than the full moon party IMO. I quite like Koh Phi Phi, has much more to offer!
