It was a terrible end for the "Tit Bonhomme", so close to home in difficult conditions early on the fifteenth of January. Six crew were on board but only one survivor has been found. In the midst of the shock and grief the community came together to do whatever needed to be done as part of the extensive search effort or supporting people who needed to be at the pier. Searching coastlines, searching the water, providing food and support. It is heartening to see that kind of community spirit in the midst of such painful circumstances.

A call was put out for divers over the coming weekend when the weather is forecast to be helpful. It was generously answered.

    Overwhelming response to search appeal

The Irish Coastguard says it has received an overwhelming response from the diving community to an appeal to join the search for two missing fishermen off Cork.

Coastguard manager Declan Geoghegan said the search teams now have enough divers and said further volunteers should not travel for the moment.

The body of the last fisherman is believed to have been found today. It's a very important achievement that will mean a lot to the bereaved families. A big well done to all those who were involved in the recovery efforts.
