Right, flying into and out of Sydney in June. What must we do? Staying for 4 weeks in total. Probably going to spend the first week in Sydney (is that enough time/too long?) and will have to spend some time in Coffs Harbour as have family there. So looking for help from people who have done the East Coast of Australia.

So thinking either flying to Cairns from Sydney and driving down to Coffs Harbour stopping at whatever interesting spots on the way (suggestions please). Or hiring a car from Sydney and working our way up to Coffs Harbour and maybe a trip to Brisbane from there. So basically which is a better drive, driving Cairns to Coffs or Sydney to Coffs?

Also, do car hire companies allow car hire in one city but returning it to another town/city? Is there usually an extra cost for it?

    Cheers for the help!

Too long in Sydney if you only have 4 weeks to travel

    Do:
    Cairns
    Mission Beach
    Townsville - Magnetic Island
    Airlie Beach - Whitsundays
    Town of 1770
    Rainbow Beach - Fraser Island
    Brisbane
    Noosa
    Surfers Paradise
    Byron Bay
    Nimbin Town
    Spot X
    Sydney
    Melbourne

Would it not be more convenient to just get a greyhound down? it's a long drive
