Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    any tips?

I'll mostly be dealing with rural primary and secondary schools. but I don't really mind the thread becoming a place for any teaching words of wisdom.

    Just general advice?

Your initial nerves will pass quickly, so don't let them deter you. Channel them into something productive.

Be friendly with your students, build a good rapport, but don't try to be their "friend". There is really nothing worse than that teacher who thinks they're eternally cool (I've seen this so many times and I've only been teaching a short while). Remember what it's like to be their age. Everyone over the age of 23 is part of a giant homogeneous blob.

A successful lesson is all in the planning. Have some back-up activities in case things go wrong. Once you lose the momentum of a lesson, it's really hard to get it back.

    Best of luck!
