Know the feeling, mine is running a lot slower now, web pages are taking an age to load, battery seems to be draining extra fast.

I updated on Saturday morning. On Sat the battery was diabolical. But it seems to have settled down to normal now (e.g. I charged to about 80)% yesterday at 4 and I'm on 40% now. I also disabled my Live Wallpaper when I saw it was using 10% of my battery.

I was getting the slowness you have too. I did the tip on post 12 of this thread (I set it to 3 processes) and it's going grand again now.

Updated there, with Meteor. Running 3.6? Are we not getting 4.0?

Laggy, Go Launcher force closing, not much to note apart from that. Sense unlock screen popping up before the Go Launcher unlock screen. Big meh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Yeah its available on Meteor now. I presume we'll eventually get Sense 4.0? Seems pointless just going to 3.6.

That isn't looking likely. Apparently, Sense 4.0 incorporates software and hardware improvements to the camera. Because camera hardware cannot be upgraded, HTC aren't releasing Sense 4 for their older phones -

    http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/13/htc-sense-3-6-preview/
Both versions were developed in parallel to each other, which gave us even more reason to initially believe the two would be closer in look and features than they actually were. So what gives? According to HTC, there are a couple reasons: first, users of legacy devices are accustomed to the previous interface, and the upgrade adds the features and benefits of ICS without upsetting that user experience. Second, only the One lineup can support ImageSense, which is an integral part of Sense 4.0. Whether you agree with the reasoning or not, this undeniably leads to further fragmentation of Sense -- something we've already seen to a lesser extent with 3.0 and 3.5 -- and it's not likely to get better anytime soon.

Is the Sensation an "older phone" now??

Just finished to download there. Very laggy so far.

Yeah it seems so. It's ridiculous how fast things move these days

I like rooting things to get most out of them, have done for ipod touch and wii, but don't think I would chance it on Phone as voids warranty. Had to send back to Three twice in the 5 months I have the phone. But just in case can you give me link to the custom rom and advise on rooting please?
Just reflash a stock rom if you need to send it back. I had to send a Galaxy S back twice in quick succession. I had it rooted but just flashed a stock rom. Anyway the phone doesn't go back to the manufacturer 99% of the time and the repair guys don't care if it's rooted or not

I updated mine on Thursday when it was available as an OTA update for Vodafone.
The update process worked fine but initially I hated the update. I found levels
of lag and serious problems with all functions slowing down compared to previous OS. I spent the weekend looking for options to remove upgrade and searching for workarounds.

I avoided using the browser and email on the phone over the weekend as it was too slow and unresponsive. I'm not sure what has changed over the last two days but the phone is back to normal. Maybe it was rebuilding and re-indexing in the background for the first few days but speed is thankfully back to normal on my handset.

If anyone else is frustrated after updating my advice is to give it a couple of days before passing final judgement.

I would agree 100% with that ,i updated last thursday as well and the phone was a disaster over the weekend slow and battery dying in no time, switching off randomly but today it seems to be fine so fingers crossed its stable.

I upgraded yesterday and the phone was only a bit sluggish for a few minutes, a reboot sorted it and it's fine since.
Lots of people complaining about HTC Sense ruining the ICS feel, but I have ICS on a Transformer too and there isn't the massive difference some would have you believe!
I actually like Sense.. *runs for cover*

Upgraded mine on Sunday, regretted it now. A lot of my apps like SkyGo and AIB mobile banking don't work no more. Also it seems to load pages a lot slower than before and tends to reboot itself when iam browsing. Not happy with it at all.

Just installed ICS on HTC Sensation XE...

Some nice changes to email and the camera...a little laggy, but happy enough so far....

Nice option to clear all notifications at once
Wish they would let me move the 'All Apps' button

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

There are really only a handful of changes, and it looks slightly different.

Was expecting a lot more, looks very different to the ICS on the One X or Nexus for example.

Is it just me..or did they swap the sides for things like snooze and cancel on the alarm...it's like some sick joke...!!

I yes indeed they did! Overslept because of that unwanted little change...

I think they also swapped the OK and delete buttons on the PIN unlock.
Something not feeling right and I keep putting in my PIN and deleting the last digit.

Same thing happened to me. Take out the battery while the phone is on, restart and it should be ok.

    Hi
any one have a workaround for Skygo on GS2 with ICS?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,932 ✭✭✭Sniipe

I find my Sensation is now laggy (just tried post 12 and will see how that goes). I also can't get any data without going into wifi.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,913 ✭✭✭JacksonHeightsOwn

Still no word on when three plan on rolling this puppy out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,263 ✭✭✭Shlippery

I like the few changes except the reversed buttons for ok dismiss, and snooze.

What the **** were they thinkin? it's pissing me off to no end!!!!! What purpose did it serve!!? I thought I'd adjust by now but it just feels unnatural:(

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

After a few days of use it does seem quite laggy on certain apps. The switching of the cancel and ok buttons is catching me out too. I like the updated recent apps screen though.

I tried the recommendation in post 12; I also did a restart and things are running better. Thinking of upgrading to HTC one tho!

Just discovered a further ICS related update - this time for the settings application (Sensation with 4.03 on Meteor) when i went to system update.

No indication of what it does and no noticeable difference to settings afterwards.

My phone is beyond laggy since the update. Seems to have got even worse over the last week, and I only did a full wipe and restore a few weeks before the update. Everything is taking several if not many seconds to load.

Any suggestions as to what to do? Can I wipe and do a clean install of 4.0? Would a Factory Data Reset do this or is there a better way to do this?

I've been using ARHD ICS ROMs on my Sensation since January. One little trick i found on XDA helped the phone run much smoother and faster.

Settings>Develop Option>Apps>Background Process Limit. I changed the limit to 'At Most,2 Processes and this made a significant difference to the phone.

Give it a try,it may help.

Thanks I just did a wipe and it runs perfect now.

I've been thinking of rooting & ROMing my phone after this update. I've done that Background Process Limit switch a few times but it seems to keep forgetting the setting and then goes slow again.

I was reading about your ROM on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
It seems interesting. Are there any gotchas if I put this on?
I've done a format & wipe and use the tip above but the phone goes laggy after a few days. I'm fed up with messing about with it. I just want to put on a ROM and use it at the speed it used to be.

I've had no issues with the ROMs over the last couple of months. Currently up to 6.6.2 and the phone is flying. I found in the past that after a week or so the phone would become laggy and need a reboot to get her flying again. Haven't had that problem in a long time now.

That trick with the processes is undone any time the phone is rebooted,it reverts to standard limit. Forgot myself a few times after flashing a ROM and noticed the phone slowing down. As soon as i reset it there was no problem.

Battery life is excellent, mainly texting and web browsing with the odd phone call. As is normal, the screen is the biggest battery hog.

Really like the new update and found it very laggy yesterday but seems to have settled down a bit today after I restarted it this morning.

I'm still going to continue using the 360launcher though as got used to the 20 apps on each screen. Pity there wasn't an option to do this with sense.

I wonder what the issue is with mine, evertime it goes back to the home screen it shows the HTC logo screen. I've set the app max limit to two as kindly suggested earlier in the thread.

That used to happen to mine, it's sense crashing.

Mine is dog slow a lot of the time now, totally unresponsive fro 10+ seconds some times. really p1ssing me off - I even did a full wipe and restore but it was the same after a few days

Always have at least 70% battery when flashing any new software on Android devices, I once did with about a 30% battery and experienced the type of lag/buggyness that some of you guys are describing......

Sounds like Sense is the problem here tbf, anytime I have had lag issues on any of my HTC phones a factory reset usually sorts it, it has happened where a factory reset did not sort it, in that case I flashed it again through the HTC Ruu, and followed it up with another factory reset and only then was it the end of my lagfest, give it a go....

I did the reset and now again it's so laggy... Surely there going to have to fix this?? My old desire was 4X more responsive than this? It's becoming basically unusable

Since the update, what is the average amount of free ram when there are no programs open?

I usually have around 200mb with everything closed according to the task manager... (HTC Sensation XE 02 ICS update ROM fwiw)

If you read the tutorials you should be able to do what you have to do. Tey are usually step by step and well explained.
