Axl was on one minute early at the RDS in '06. Fab show. I saw them lots of time in 2010 and they were the best shows I have ever been to.

Give him another chance. The guy has been really reaching out of late. He's doing stuff he hasn't done in YEARS - he's been doing interviews and has spoken out and said in public he won't let fans down at the hall of fame.

Moan all you want but he puts on a great show 99% of the time.

That night in the RDS was one of the best gigs I was ever at. Axl was on form. Show started bang on time, just after 8 and the weather was cracking. Having felt that it was money well spent I had no problem buying tickets for the gig in the Point which we all know was a disaster.

I knew I wasn't really seeing Guns on either occasion but thought Axl was really impressive the first time and was expecting the same in the Point. I'm happy out with that.

However giving him another chance is something I can't afford these days.

I thought slash's book portrayed him more favourably than I would've expected.

But you'll never fool me again

I think I posted this in this thread before, but here goes again:

I went to see him(them) in 2006 in the RDS when they were part of the Download Festival. At this gig he was well behaved - no turning up late,no hissy fits, no walking off stage etc, but when it's his own gig, he treats his "fans" with utter contempt by acting like a prima donna.

This is why I will not be going to another "GnR" concert ever again.

Slash doesn't shoot his mouth off in public like Mr(s) Rose does.

By all accounts he's a really down to earth & sound guy [Slash]

I felt the general tone was that he felt that Axl was a fairly talented musician/singer/songwriter/producer but after that he wasn't a particularly nice guy. clearly a troubled mind too - the incident with slash's granny and the couch springs to mind.

Spot on with what I gathered from the book. But it was never a bitching session, I think it was nice of Slash to credit Axle with some of the amazing work he did...like the November Rain arrangements & synth work etc.

I also thought of that exact story when referencing the book :D

The other big thing that stood out for me was that Slash feels he will never ever play in a band that was as talented as the original Guns n Roses line up.

But I don't how anyone could work with Axl. A complete liability.

I'd love to go if I thought it would be like the RDS gig. MCD must surely have stage times included in he contract. Why else would they put themselves through the crapper again? We all know how clued in Axl is with an oul contract. Whether he's asking band members to sign them and having them waved in his face.

As my dodgy desk calendar said yesterday it's a only a mistake if it happens twice.

Scott Weiland said the same about Slash, Duff and Matt after he left Velvet Revolver. But hes a chronic junkie so I don't know who to believe!

    I can't wait for this

I was there at the last concert, I vented my disappointment, I cried and I moaned. But in the end the Irish people did not follow my example and you allowed MCD to bully you. YOU DIDN'T DO WHAT WAS NEEDED TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK....so to all those not going, that's totally fine, I respect your decision. Even if your decision was motivated, not by money, but by the behaviour of Mr Rose and MCD that night, then that's fine as well.

But guess what, now is the time to walk away from this thread and stop posting negative and bad comments about the band, about Axl, about the promoters...whatever....now is the time to stop. Because it's done.

And to those thinking of paying the money just to throw something at him and start a riot, save your money, buy shopping for the week instead and feed yourself. Don't bother coming, at all, if you're only interested in hating him or booing him.

YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, YOU KNOW IT WILL BE LATE, YOU KNOW WHAT WILL OCCUR...SO DON'T BOTHER COMING IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT BECAUSE THERE IS NO EXCUSE, AFTER LAST YEAR, FOR PEOPLE TO BOO HIM OR GET UPSET....THEY KNOW THE SCORE

I’m sure there’s plenty on here who’ve suggested that they won’t be turning up but will no doubt have a change of heart when the time comes.

All this talk of petitions and boycotts aren't going to mean a thing to the band, it'll sell out or there abouts.

Appetite is a juggernaut of an album, but I never listened to it manically like others. Having only recently listened to the Use Your Illusions albums which are stupendously focking shíte bar four tunes tops, I’m intrigued to know what sort of set list they play?

I’ve just never seen the huge draw towards them, I was in the midst of it in the bygone school days, every single person walking the streets with gnr t-shirts.

I was thoroughly engrossed reading the 3 books from the original band members, and like many have said there seems to be no animosity thrown towards the ginger lad.

How does one good album make for a legendary band? It's still an album that's never been on heavy rotation on my ipod bar "It's so easy".

I bought AFD myself too. I just think Axl and the GnR name is a thing of the past.

    I am, yes

You've been one of the biggest objectors to this gig, and GNR in general, and have vented your frustrations week in week out on this thread for months now. I respect your right to say what you say but, trust me, just like I know I will never change your mind you will never change mine. So we have to leave it at that and just accept that those who don't want to go have a perfectly legitimate reason and those who do want to go are in their right to do that.

More importantly, the fact remains, if people go (and later complain) it is their only fault.....because they are fully aware of the stuff that happened in September 2010 and should not subject themselves to this performance if they can't expect the same thing to happen again. We're talking no public transport, a late performance, trouble getting a taxi, late stage time, problems with late times for work and just other general problems.

If you can't accept that, then please listen to Mental Mickey here and don't go, because you will not enjoy yourself and will only end up moaning. If you can accept that will happen then go and enjoy.

I don't want my experience ruined because someone is standing there booing and then attempting to throw his absurdly priced beer at Axl, if you'll have a problem with him being VERY VERY late...then don't go...don't waste your money, stay at home, spend it on something else. Get that into your mindset NOW and accept that you will not go just to cause trouble or complain afterwards

There's another thread in Rock and Metal and we've been speaking about GNR for a few months now. I mentioned GNR in general, you'll see that yourself, I wasn't just speaking about this gig.

You're mad for parting with your money for MCD and this guy, after the previous shambles, that's all I'm saying.

It's a free world, though, so go ahead and enjoy him acting like a primadonna.

@MentalMickey - that last comment of mine wasn't directed at you sorry.

And I agree with you about people forking out more cash to MCD after the disgraceful way they handled that last gig by GNR.

Screw them, they don't deserve it and the fact that GNR decided to use them again as a promoter says it all about their lack of respect for the fans.

So its Axls fault we've a **** bus service?

I saw the Prodigy come on at 1am in the Point before, back in the good old days when we weren't so up our own arses and there was some ****ing life in this town! This was when Sheriff St was still very much a dangerous ****hole. No IFSC, no LUAS, no taxis. And no ****ing money. I walked back into town at 3am after, in the freezing cold, had a chat about the gig with my mates and then got a taxi home. No big deal. Ive done it plenty of times since from the O2. Including the GnR gig in 2010.

People now seem to want to be dropped to the door, shown to their seat, drink brought to them, played the old reliable hits, told "you're the best crowd ever", escorted out into a waiting taxi and then driven home and tucked into their beds. **** OFF!

****ing spoiled rotten. Celtic Tiger syndrome.

As for your (frankly laughable) attempt to get a refund from MCD!!? WHY? They played the gig, they sounded good. Most people went home happy and enjoyed it. Ive no time for MCD by the way, none. But in this case, they did nothing wrong.

Why in the name of God did you expect to be refunded?

Only after being threatened with not being paid. Money talks.

But that was after he got a load of bottles thrown at him. I thought he handled it well. "One more bottle, we go home" was fair enough.

And then someone threw another bottle at him! Idiots.

    Don't Cry
    Bad Obsession
    Back Off Bitch
    Double Talkin' Jive
    November Rain
    Coma

They're from Illusion 1 alone
