I still can't believe they picked that unit. Parking is going to be a nightmare when it opens first.

It's true, you will just have to wait and see. They have already been in fitting lifts and the keys were handed over Monday just gone

The one thing you are all forgetting is it will be run as a franchise with prices controlled by Iceland Ireland and not Iceland UK.

Just like tesco Ireland does not compare price wise to tesco UK.

They will just compare to the rest. Just like garveys and tesco with prices compared to each other.

We'll see. Personally Iceland is ****e in the UK.

Iceland in Clonmel has regular pricing in terms of exchange, ie: items priced at £1 are sold at €1.50 which is fair considering the extra transport costs and all!

I still don't think they are picking a good unit. I know they have teams of guys who know better then me who examine these kind of things but i just can't see it working as well as it could have.

I know Dealz are going into Lisduggan so that's not an option now but that is a far better location IMHO.

Your talking about frozen vegetables, theres nothing wrong with frozen vegetables in fact i would say frozen is better than fresh, fresh from supermarkets anyway, frozen veg is picked and frozen within one hour, where as your "Fresh Veg" in the shop has probably been half way round the world in a ship or on a truck then time sepnt on the shelf.

Im talking about the Sheppards pie's the lasagne the ready made meals, frozen sausages. People think the cheaper the food the better, the cheaper the food the more crap thats in it, the less quality in it. just read the back of the packs,

Isn't there a lot of parking to the rear of that unit ?

Do we really need another supermarket though? Even one that's a little more "specialised" than the others. Obviously the jobs being created is great but there's a Superquinn, Aldi, Lidl, BuyLo right there, 2 Tescos not that far, there's that party frozen food place nearby too. Hell if you're really stuck there's a Centra and a Spar too. And all that's before you drive from that general area.

Obviously it means more choice but I can't see there being enough business to take anything from the other shops.

Dealz are no longer going into lisduggan, an objection was put it, when up through the chain and objection was held fair, dealz pulled out all units are up for sale in tescos lisduggan

Let's just say i'm on the front line, I cant go into full details but i can guarentee you they are going to be in Lisduggan within the coming weeks.

Well in fairness I hope they do, few jobs for people would be nice in fairness, and that shopping centre needs a massive boast......

Are you working there ya ?
Oh and them objections were put in when they knew dealz were about to move in, bad form by the competition infairness

I'm involved alright (I know being so cryptic is annoying but its a necessary evil).

I guess that's just business with the objections. I mentioned in the general chat thread but all those empty units along that side of Lisduggan are going to be in use by the summer which is great.

Great to see any few jobs created in the city.

Just out in Lisduggan now and there are to let signs all over the place dealz was supposed to be going in.

    Are they new signs?
