    Since i got the aics stock i have noticed it does not ride well in the back bag. this is down to the way the stock is designed with a hook on the bottom. i has never really caused much hassle until today where the gun was recoiling it was slipping off the bag and sending my shots high. my coach recomended i try to make a bag rider for the bottom. im just wondering has anyone any ideas of how to fix this

    The problem, as you know, is you have a four inch piece of the stock resting on a flat 4" piece of the rear bag. Any movement knocks it off position which can result in verticals.

    The quick easy option, but not terribly effective, is to resposition the sandbag. To the butt hook or under the falt piece directly behind the grip. This can cause its own problems.

    With it in the butt hook to eliminate the advantage of hold, if like me, you prefer to use the butt hook. Plus with the rifle recoiling an the sloped shape at the rear of the grip you could get downward verticals. This is assumption having never comeptitvely shot the AICS.

    With the bag directly behind the grip it can force the hand into an unnatural firing positon, and result in other issues because of this. not to mention knock you "off game" mentally as you'll be thinking about your grip and hold from a comfort point of view more than the technique itself.

    A couple of other options to look at.

    First being the rear bag. Are you using a Caldwell style rear bag? Perhaps something along the lines of ;

    There is little to no "drop" and no slope on the bag that would allow the rifle to cause verticals. It would run straight back and if it came from between the bunny ears it would still have a flatter surface to run on.

    The other option could a flat rear bag. Do away with the ears altogether. Not sure how functional it'd be, but might be worht a thought.

    Then there ia always the "extreme" option. Altering the stock. Something that would act as a "gap stop" between the rear of the grip and front of the butt hook. (Excuse the poor illustration:o)

    Do any of the Ftr/F-class shooters use the Aics??

    Surely they have a good solution to the problem if any of them use this stock?

    Would be interested in a solution for this myself

    I remember you having this problem, I recall our spotter/coach (John ?) suggesting you buy another of the AICS cheek-pieces and attaching it to the bottom of the stock, to act as a bag rider of sorts, looking at the picture in the post above it looks ideal for the job, and if drilled & tapped neatly would not look too much out of place...
