You don't want your strikers to be making tackles in your own box, mission accomplished by Arsenal.

    Wenger will be dancing inside!

Think the calming influence of Arteta wouldn't go amiss at this stage.

Dirty by Van Persie, very lucky and the ref looking straight at it.

That was nasty from Van Persie.

It's really stupid. You stop your teams flow as you think it's funny to keep the ball, just throw the feckin' thing back into play. Finally a ball comes back into play and Arsenal go and score. Could have been different...

Yep that was nasty and idiotic by Van Persie!

By the rules it's a peno.

But I've said it a hundred times it's a stupid rule. Ramsey is never getting that ball. Shouldn't be a peno.

I see how it's a foul. By the current rules. And the ref was right to give the peno imo.

But, imo, if a player clearly isn't going to get the ball it shouldn't be a peno.

LOL, so if a ball isn't around it's ok to put them on the ground because they weren't getting the ball anyway? How far can you go? You think a scything slide tackle is ok, what about a judo throw or a headkick? Where's the line between serious foul play and "the ball wasn't there so it's fine"?

Bad form from RVP earlier on.

That 1st half made me forget Villa are ****.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

Havent a clue where that came from! Villa definitly doing an Arsenal but how the hell did Dunne stay on? You cant get much clearer of a yellow than that. Some ref's probably would have given him for a red as Ramsey was more or less one on one with the keeper.

Hopefully we dont implode ourselves now :pac:

Jesus!! Couldnt watch the 2nd half. Just checked the score. Cant believe Arsenal have come back. Didnt think they had it in them. Fair play to them. Credit where credit is due and all that!

Well arsenal had just got 2 goals, maybe they were right to stop the teams flow.

Dunne conceded a peno and escaped a booking.

Tbh he should have conceded a peno and picked up his second yellow and been sent off.

But in cases were the attacker is never ever going to catch up with the ball then I think yeah, book the player if he needs to be booked, but don't award the peno.

Obviously I'm delighted we got the peno, and by the rules it was a 100% peno.

The Villa fans have kept the ball better than the Villa players.

Wonder if Wenger is brave enough to take off Chamberlain again today or if he'll leave him for the 90.

So a booking with no foul given? I'm not sure I understand you 100% because what you're saying sounds ridiculous. Under your interpretation when defending a corner, if the ball goes long to the back post I can trip someone up at the front post with no reprocussions because the player was never getting to the ball. A foul is a free, no matter where it is. The argument that its a peno but no card is more valid because its a double advantage to the attacking team, but what you're saying seems absurd to suggest.

Dunne will be sent off before the end, Mcleish needs to rearrange things and sub Dunne.

I still don't get what you're saying, do you think only certain fouls should be penalised with a free kick (penalty) by virtue of happening in the box but players could still be booked/sent off for their transgression?

For a keeper coming into the side fresh I think Fabianski has done ok today. He wasn't great for Dunne's goal, but he has done what has been asked of him.

Koscielny should be sent off for that, should he not??

There is no way to prove that if he didn't foul Bent had a clear run on goal. Yellow was right imo.

Well lucky this is an FA Cup match. I believe in the PL, you have to use the one ball? You'd be waiting a day and an age to get the ball back. It's just something small that annoyed me!

Book the player, but don't award the peno?? You're booking him because he's fouled someone. Therefore, the foul leads to a free kick / peno! Why else would you be booking him. It's a pretty outlandish point you're making!

No, i mean kicking the ball at Bent! Does that not result in a red?

He's saying it shouldn't have been a peno because ramsey was not going to score as he had already fluffed the ball before the tackle made contact with him.

Still pretty worrying that the only goals Arsenal could get today were 2 penalties and a fluke.

Again, so what? Elbow someone while your keeper has the ball in his arms and it's a penalty and (should be) a sending off.

Ramsey was still fouled though, whether he was getting the ball or not!

The part on bold is the important part. If Ramsey broke his leg, and it could've happened with a tackle like that, would we still be having this argument?

What is it with Arsenal fans that they always have to give out about the team? You're winning the game from 2-0 down, is that not good enough?
