Should be moved to Console Modding.

You need to install the Homebrew Channel, then download WiiMC. It's a media center for the Wii that's able to play DVDs without a modchip.

Might be better in console modding.
You can't out of the box but there are ways and means of making it work. It's not worth the effort though, it never went much beyond a proof of concept player.

    Edit : ooh snap

Apologies, maybe a forum mod here will do it, don't know much about the Wii myself!

That's messy though as you have to rip the dvd, convert it & then put the converted files onto an SD card. Plus it's only a trial proggy

Using actual dvd discs on the Wii via The Homebrew Channel & MPlayer

Just a heads up, its thought that reading movies puts more strain on a wii's laser than games as it cant cache it or whatever.

Dvd players are €20 maybe even less

Wii lasers are more than that just to buy, more to get someone to fit it.

Wouldnt bother with DVDs on a wii myself.
