I wish to order some stock and when I asked for discount on a bulk order I received the following reply:

"We do require a minimum opening order of $5000 which must include....etc . We offer (eg 20%) discount."

My partner and I disagree on the meaning of this.

Can someone give me their opinions on the following please:

Does this mean : 1)I order 5K worth of stock and pay 5k -20% discount
    or
2)I order 6k worth of stock and pay 5K

Just wondering what is the norm in this situation before I place the order (I do not want to appear foolish by asking:o) thanks

Order $5k worth of goods, pay $4,166.66.
Order $4,999.99 worth of goods, pay $4,999.99.
    Think that's how it works.
