What is the difference between buying Bank of Ireland shares listed on the ISEQ and the ones listed on London stock exchange.

A colleague is telling me it is the same stock - is this correct?

It is the same underlying company. This type of activity is called 'Dual Listing'.

Yes, the BOI or CRH shares you buy in London are identical to the ones you buy in Dublin. It is a dual listing as pointed out by Comordha, the same company listed on two exchanges.

The Dublin (Euro) price will track the sterling price in London so there won't suddenly be an opportunity to buy in one exchange and sell seconds later in the other exchange for an instant profit. Broker commission and the FX charges will wipe out any notional profit to be made based on a momentary discrepancy in the prices across the two exchanges.
