Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Long story short the Training and further Education part has been rebranded as SOLAS and made a sub agency of the Department of Education.

    The parts of FAS to do with comunity employment schemes etc have been taken over by the Department of Social Protection.

    The FAS website is one of the most brutal looking websites on the internet, looks like it was designed by someone in the early 90's who was designing their first website.

    The fact that they offer (or used to) offer many web design courses says it all really.
    An awful, awful shower of gombeens.

    We could call ourselves Angerland for a while and hopefully the banks would get confused and forget about us. We know the people at the top are fairly stupid so it's an idea that might actually work.

    I still call the centre in Limerick the ANCO building :o

    Anyone else here remember ANCO?


    On another note I did a course with CERT, tourism training agency kinda like FÁS only they have excellent trainers and are superb at their jobs.
    Fantastic course, learned lots of skills, helped da ould self confidence and got a job out of it
    And without going down the immigration debate, Irish tourism needs Irish people. That's whom tourists want to meet and talk to

    CERT was taken by Fáilte Ireland, I hope they are still as good

    FAS is no longer. It is now part of Social Protection. It is actually a pretty radical change. While there was a connection to DFSA information was not shared in the most direct manner. Rules have been changed so now when you fail to use the services you get docked.

    All the people who complain about people on the dole needing a kick this is it. If you don't do training or turn up for appointments you get docked money. This is new. A lot of the training will use private companies now too and probably increase.
