Powerline and Playstation?

Has anyone here ever had any experience or knowledge of using a Powerline Kit with Playstaion 3?

We've recently had the house extended, and Playstation and router are now at opposite ends of the house, out of range of each other.

The reviews on it seem generally positive, and Google is the same; all that's thrown me off at the moment is a warning from a lad I know (who I've not been able to get a hold of since; he's emigrated) who says they're not great for online gaming, something to do with sending packet data.
(This was the kind of lad who revels in confounding with big words and scary sounding abbreviations).

I've been offline for a fair while now, far too long in fact.
Your thoughts please?

I've no experience with power plugs, but have read on here that they are great.
These are cheaper, http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-PA211KIT-200Mbps-Powerline-Ethernet/dp/B004INVKP4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328127933&sr=8-1 and there are probably cheaper ones out there too.

They were just general posts(could have been in the broadband/PS/xbox fora).

Couple of posts here, http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=71085271 - found them when I put "home plugs" into boards search to see what came up.

Op you can also get pass-thru ones so that you don't lose access to a power socket...

Thanks lads, that put my mind at rest. . And those pass-through ones would be perfect, I've already got an adaptor full us here. . .
You think fella that gave his 'expert advice' was full of it? Reviews seem to say so. . .

Never heard of pass through ones.

But I did use them once and they were excellent.

Wireless is less effective but too lazt to get them out again now that I have a wireless router.

I use Netgear ones with my PC. They're excellent. Consistent 80Mbps and no latency issues compared to when I used wireless.

I do get some noise on my crappy speakers from the network traffic on the mains tho.

if you do get pass through ones make sure they use the Irish/UK 3 pin plug and not the 2 pin us above ;-)
