Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

081 ran light engine through Sallins for Newbridge a few minutes ago - unusual for such a working to be mixed into the evening paths

    Monday 3 2 2014.
075 worked the empty tara mines passing Raheny at around 14:10.
080 worked the laden tara mines at the same location 14:30 .

    Tuesday 04 02 2014.

080 in the Navan branch at Drogheda.
075 noted at Gormanston with the laden tara mines, it was later looped in to platform 3 at Clongriffin to let the 15:20 Dublin to Belfast Central to pass.

Something wrong with the Flicker account, I hope this works.

First time seeing that loop used. I remember that they had to hold off plans trying to commission the points during 2012 as they had to close the line for a weekend and there was public outcry blades were removed and later refitted again.. They must have got it done at the end of last year with the north side signaling upgrade.

Well reading your post yesterday, it couldn't have been 073 up rd as 073 worked the IWT exBallina yesterday and probably stabled in Inchicore overnight, replacing 074 on the return journey, so it probably was 074 you saw.
BTW the CPWs wagon transfer working Limerick / Waterford always work via Dublin as the Limerick Junction / Waterford line ain't passed for CPWs.

I was distracted with work of all things when she passed so it was more than likely 073 alright. There's been so many break downs and loco swops and the last few days it's hard to keep track!

077 starting to get a bit scruffy, the livery weathers well I think. It's hard to believe that it's 10 months in traffic in the new livery, feels like yesterday that the grey 071s started roaming around.

An 071 (I think the UIC ended -1) in grey livery just pulled into the loop Dublin bound at Sallins on what I think is a track train. There where sections of prefabricated track and a yellow track machine bearing no's 776 778

Donelli gantry relay train, 0117084 was taken off at Inchicore and replaced by 075, photo below.

That's the first I heard of 084 since it failed on the IWT liner. It went into hiding after that.

Which begs the question anyone know why was she swopped out again? The train stood for at least an hour in the loop at Sallins too.

078 was swapped out for 080 yesterday on a liner so it just seems like a regular thing lately.

This was parked in P8 siding of all places and was unable to depart on time because of 13.00 to Cork which blocked the whole place up.

Are those 15mph or 15kph speed limit signs on those gantry cranes?

The rest of IE's network is in miles so think the same for that to.

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭jhnn

I have seen the same gantries in action north of Howth Junction in the middle 90s they operate at quick walking pace I would say 15 kph, then again I could be wrong......John.

Yeah, I think the limt signs are in MPH but I know the speedos in the DARTs, DMUs and 201s are all in kph.

Just thought 15mph is a bit slow for the gantries, seeing as they are air braked stock and all.

The speedos on all of the locos are dual units. DARTs are metric only as far as I know.

The speed limit of "15" applies to the units as they run along their own rails outside the 5'3" while working. When mounted on their wagon the "15" limit is not applicable.
