    Hi all,

    I know you have to do various GP electives and courses to improve your chances of getting a place on a scheme but I was just wondering how long these take?

    i.e. how many electives? how long for each? how long do the courses take?

    Also, is there much difference in getting on a scheme based in a rural area as opposed to Dublin? I presume there's more competition for places in Dublin training schemes?

    Anyone i know who did an elective just spent a week at a GP surgery before the application process started.
