So this may turn into a short story rather then a quick post so apologies in advance, I will try and keep it as short and sweet as is possible.
I have listed 4 baskets below. The 1st is the ram, hdd and ssd that could be put in any build and they seem to be well recommended time and time again on here.
The next 3 builds are staggered in price, an i3 i5 & i7 build. what are peoples opinions on these 3 builds? I have picked those cases as exaples of cases in and around each price range. Would it be a crime to stick the i7 or i5 build in the asgard case??
What would you change in each build without changing the budget drastically?
I am unsure about the choice of p67 mobo but again it was just a gauge of that price range. Which has the best bang for buck? I am hoping to build one of these but have come to the conclusion I will probably not be gaming as the last PC game I played was Delta Force and before that it was LHX so although I had great plans to play SWTOR, minecraft, skyrim and BF3 the reality is I probably wont and as such I have not included any GPU. Saying that, I would still like a beast of a machine even if it never gets unleashed.
The main purpose would be for general browsing but I have been known to dabble in music editing, video editing and recently been learning sketch up. I would also like this to be a HTPC and home server/NAS. could I get away with no GPU should I drop in a 6670/6770/6870. again, would it be a crime to put a 6670 in the i5 or i7 build?
I have just developed a bit of a fetish with all this stuff as I am sure a lot can relate to. I have no IT experience what so ever and have learnt all I know from this forum in the past 6 months. Honestly 6 months ago i would have thought a cpu was the company that provides my TV service.

No point spending gazilion euro on a system, which will newer ever be used properly. Always buy for your needs.

In this case there is really no point building a monster pc and with no gpu. Instead of doing alot of builds, you better sit down and think hard about what do you need out of that system and do you really want to pay extra just for right to say: my epynis is bigger, because i have i7 yo! ;)

Do you do any sort of gaming on the computer? How serious are you in Sketchup?

If "not really" is pretty much the answer to both of those, go for the i3. If it's more serious and / or you're planning to keep this for a while, go for the i5 (but swap the case and motherboard for items below). You can then add any GPU you like to this build in the future if you want / need to, and it'll all run fine.
