Very interesting! I had heard of this before but have only now seen what it looks like. However I don't think it's something that should be entered or browsed carelessly, seems to be quite a nasty mish mash of subjects.

i am going to dig about on it this weekend

while using my neighbors wireless of course :D

this tor thing is interesting tho. i'm thinking this kind of thing will be essential if all this SOPA type stuff becomes law.

Tor sounds like it might be some sort of pre-proxied browser. Would be tempted to have a look myself but from other sources I'm reading it seems to be the cesspit of the web. Contract killers for hire, child porn, international sex/drug trafficking rings and it's own currency called Bitcoins which can be used to buy the illegal services/items.

I'd say it must be crawling with hacker types to be honest, it doesn't seem like the sort of place the creators or contributors want just anybody wandering in to or poking around.

It's like using dial up internet ... it's incredibly slow. It's hard to even find a website and they all look like they were created during the 90's.

Tor just stopped working for me?
I think it might have something to do with SOPA and broadband.
Can any of you guys verify, or help me out? :o

    Thanks

    -Sam

Nothing to do with SOPA. Possibly your ISP. Try restarting and see if it comes back

Its been the same for months now for me and my 4 friends.
We could all access it at one point in time, not anymore.
I'm guessing it has something to do with my ISP all right.

Seems interesting, but incredibly seedy and something I should be really cautious of.

The information about the size of the deep web is very misleading. Technically pages like your Facebook page is part of the deep web. The "deep web" is essentially just pages that a web crawler can't crawl, a web crawler can't crawl your Facebook page because it can't login etc. So the majority of the deep web is just content like this.
