Could anyone tell me where to find a general "Fill in the Gaps" Terms of Use/Disclaimer for an eCommerce website?

Came across these in the UK http://www.seqlegal.co.uk/ but not sure if UK law is the same across the board. Will be shipping products worldwide.

    Many thanks

Why not rip off their site design while you're at it?

Get a life - its the t&c's - nobody advocating lifting designs or actual content.

You thing every site in the world got their t&c's passed/drawn up by a brief? Did you....

Any you know, while I'm at, it take a chunk of text from your own t&c's and seen how many sites have the exact same text - unique? Nada, possibly 'lifted. Dont tell me its 'standard' - its shouldn't be.

No, I don't think every site in the world draws up their own T+Cs. I'm sure quite a lot of them rip them off from other sites, who have spent time and money on them. Doesn't mean it's not copyright infringement, or that people should be advised to do it.

On the other hand, quite a lot of sites will put time and effort into finding a suitable framework that's been made available for public use, customising that to their needs, and getting someone to review it, which is what we did.

I've just Googled quite a number of random chunks from our own T+Cs and found them to be unique.

Unfortunately for the OP, I can't remember where the framework came from. I think it was possibly some link from Enterprise Ireland, which probably explains why the opening and closing paragraphs show up from a rake of Irish sites.

To the OP: I'd suggest making a note of what point you need to cover, reading the T+Cs for a number of sites in a similar industry to yours to find anything you might not have considered, if possible finding a starting template, and putting it all together. And then get it checked over carefully.

    Hi,

Have a look at as many industry sites in Ireland that you can and join down main points. However the t&c's should reflect your site, your business and not just fill space on a website. Also take into account new data protection directives which regulate privacy online. See what applies to your site. Cookies, databases etc. well worth spending time on it
