Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/shocked-garda-receives-pigs-head-through-post-3009198.html
AN investigation is underway after a garda was sent a pig's head in the post to his home.
The Irish Independent can reveal that the well-respected officer -- who is based in Clare -- received the severed animal's head via registered post at his house in recent days.
Garda colleagues and friends of the officer are said to be outraged that he was singled out by an individual in such a manner.
The shocked officer, who works in west Clare, is highly regarded by his colleagues and those in the community where he works.
It is unclear how the pig's head was packaged in the box when it was sent to the officer, but the item did not raise any suspicions with An Post workers when in transit.

    ????

Edited to say thank you to Biko for adding the quote.

What kind of fncking moron uses registered post for this?

You know why he used registered post? So that he could track it online and have a good laugh at himself when he saw that the package has been delivered and signed for.

This of course means that it will be possible to track him down by simply pulling up the web logs for that tracking number to see who was checking it.

Or even better - the log for this parcel will show where it was handed in and exactly what time. So just get the security tapes for that post office at that time, and presto, CCTV-o.

    Moron.

Simply use a proxy based in Canada or South Korea while browsing from a computer in an internet cafe. Good luck with the search!

I nearly fell off the chair laughing as I was listening to the news on Clare FM this morning. The Godfather has descended on County Clare. Be afraid, be very afraid... All I could think of was Homer Simpson...

Even still, they can track where it originated and check the security cameras.

Shocked garda receives pig's head through post

The registered package had to be signed for when it was delivered to the garda's address. Gardai are now attempting to establish who sent the package to their colleague.
"It was a very personal attack. To have something like this sent to a person's home address is a despicable act," the source said.
"It was a full pig's head that was sent to him in a package. It was sent to his home and an incident like this would cause anyone distress -- not least a person who is just trying to do their job and make a living," the source added.
An informed source said the garda is highly thought of by those who know him and people he has met through the course of his duties.
The officer is heavily involved in community work in the region where he works in west Clare and is well regarded of by the community he serves.
"He is extremely approachable to all living there and is very good at his job. He did not deserve this whatsoever," the source said.
Ah yes I see the correlation

You think the kind of person who sends a pig's head through the mail even knows what the word "proxy" means?

That's just a rumour, now debunked.
After a thorough investigation involving international forensics teams, zoologists, and close relatives of the former Tanaiste An Garda Siochana concluded the head was in fact that of a pig and not Ms. Harney's as previously thought.

This conclusion was confirmed after Ms. Harney was found feasting on a trough of neighbours' discards.

Maybe they were just directly mailing evidence to the particular garda?

"Dear Sgt. Joe, who do you think killed this pig?"
